Avengers New Avengers discussion (#1-20; spoilers)

No surprise there. This along with House Of M and Ultimates2 are gonna be the ones competing against Crisis for the top spot.Speaking of Crisis, the Countdown mini's didn't do phenomenally

I would imagine that Sauron was there leader and their strength in a lot of ways and, seeing as how there were a whole mess of things going on in Dissassembled, I would imagine it's the same deal as that, only in New Avengers now...

New Avengers #6. Spoilers. Discuss.

Well. That was a bit disapointing. Wolverine joins the team, Saurons still alive, and Shield bombs everything into a steaming crater. All we realy learn is that things aren't as they seem, wich isn't all that suppising.

On the up side the character interaction is still strong, and Bendis manages to explain who the second Black Widow was without coming acrossed as too much of a generic exposision. Good to see Spideys got a true purpose on the team, ever if it is to act as a Fish out of water.

This issue did make me rethink my position on the Spider-Woman/Fury/Ronin theory I've had though. I still think that Ronin is Fury, but I no longer think that Fury is who Spider-Woman was talking to at the end of issue 2. AIM maybe? Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

And I swear to god, if I don't get every issue of The Sentry arc on time I'm dropping the book. Might as well wait for th trade at that rate.

Glad to see i wasnt the only one who felt that way....thats just how i see things right now, doesnt necessarily mean im saying he IS ronin.

Its really who I want him to be, and seems to make the most sense to me. I expect it to be some 4th string character that I've got no love for though, just so Bendis can say "HA! Didn't see that one coming ,did ya?"

I pretty much agree with this. It was a great issue, but as the end of an arc it was a little disappointing. I didn't feel like anything was resolved. On the other hand, it's kind of nice to have some things left open for the future and not follow that strict, formuliac, self-contained arc format Bendis uses on Ultimate Spidey.

One complaint - Wolverine as "the guy"? Please! I would much rather of had it been Sentry, which would have lead nicely into the next arc.

I also get the feeling that part of the reason why it wasn't closed out was because there was some heavy duty rewriting going on (the Sentry arc wasn't originally planned to happen after the first arc) and maybe some things were rushed and switched around.

But overall, good. Definitely excited for what's to come.

I can see Wolverine as "the guy". Though it isn't much as a surprise, really, as it was said the reason why Wolverine joins would be.

But what I really liked was when Spider-Man was in that panel where he was waving to Iron Man, and Spider-Woman is like, "And Spider-Man says hi.". That just made me laugh.

The issues bored me so much, sorry to say. When I finished it I really wondered if I cared. And I agree with UltimateE, the "wolverine as Cap" thing was so forced it could have been written as "Wolverine=cool, we must contirve the coolness into this series". Since when does Sauron get the powers of the mutants? He sucked Man-Spider's powers and didn't sprout 4 extra arms. Sauron does not equal Rogue. At least Spider-Man House of M and Conan were good reads.

Once again, I found this issue a little confusing. Maybe it was just because things were left open, and I couldn't tell when things were wrapping up previous things from prior issues, and when they were'nt. If someone could post a summary, or direct me to a site that gives good ones, that would be helpful.

Also, in #5, they promised a new letters page, then there wasn't one. :( Hope it shows up in #7.

 Wrong issue Ice.

I was pretty underwhelmed by this one as well.Personally I would've been more satisfied with a "Joe made us do it" if not for the fact that I don't actually mind Logan being on this team. The whole point of the first arc was to bring the team together, and give them a reson to stay together.I think we can allow him one forced entry?

I know. But I didnt get to say it before in the preview for #7 thread, so I just threw it in here, forgetting about the other thread. Just forgot to mention that it wasnt from here.

Biggest disappointment ever. This arc started out so good and then just went downhill. I'm not saying this issue was terrible. It's just that a title of this calibur should be better. Not much a conclusion considering it concluded absolutely nothing. We found out who broke Sauron out... that's it out of this arc. Now we have bigger questions well I don't care for ongoing struggles when the arc ends I want that specific story to end with it. All they did in the last three issues was walk around the Savage Land.

MWoF reluctantly says: I thought the Wolverine part was forced but I can see why he's "the one". Captain America was the super soldier of his time and now that super soldier is Wolverine. It was badly written though.

Not really, think back to Grant Morrison's New X-Men.Logan is Weapon Ten,Cap was Weapon 1(though not formally at the time)

I liked it. I think about this arc as the pilot for a tv-series, nothing is resolved but you get an introduction about whats to come. I also liked the last page about the Black Widow. Wonder if she will have her face restored or if she will wear a mask in the future? Either case she seems to be a big villain in the New Avengers future.

I bet that the guy who 'recruited' her, is the same guy behind the breakout.
That's what I thought anyways.

Overall I liked the issue, but I didn't like IM praising Wolverine. Logan isn't that great...
