Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Part 2)

I'm expecting the book to stick with Phases 1-4 probably ending with the GOTG Holiday Special in December 2025. It'd be nice if they did one for Phases 5-6 to close up the Multiverse Saga down the line, but I think it may be a while before we get an update.
When it comes to Star Wars they usually release books and keep them updated fairly frequently so it's not entirely out of the question tho this is the first time they've created timeline books so who knows. They'll definitely have a lot of content to release updates for those books every couple years

They'll probably do something similar to the FNAF books. After another couple games came out they put out an 'updated' version of the exact same book. So you are probably right, Phases 1-4 most likely and we'll get the updated version after the Saga wraps with Phase 6.

If they go with the FNAF way, let's just hope that the timeline book won't be riddled with errors like those books...

I'd rather they delay the book to include everything up to Secret Invasion and The Marvels. We've waited this long, let's wait some more! If only to shut people up about some things (you know what I'm talking about) regarding the SI finale.

At that point they may as well delay the book to include Echo as well and by the time that's done the next projects would be (or should be) just months from releasing. With a franchise like the MCU there's no way they can make a book that's super up to date

Why is everyone assuming Secret Invasion is "2026" other than "too much happening in a year"?
Couple reason. First is because there's really nothing that says 2025 at all anyways. Second is because Disney+ placed it there which as we've discussed isnt always 100% but when it's the only indication of year it should be used. Third for me is the MCU seems to be using a fairly real time progression of years with the large amount of 2021 projects being 2024, 2022 in 2025 and 2023 so far seemingly in 2026. The only real evidence is how long it seems that Nick Fury was gone with everyone consistently using the terms years with the heavy tone of it being a long time, more than just 2 years by a month. None of these are super concrete and I do think the series could be sloted in 2025 should evidence arise however since there's nothing really saying 2025 over 2026 by default I am going with 2026. Basically the assumption is 2026 because the implication from the tone of the script and the placement on Disney+ as well as the MCU's tendancy the try to keep a real world progression says 2026 over 2025 right now

Just finish up this (real life) year. That's all I ask. Echo won't be completely aired before 2024. Maybe they already have taken things that will have been released before/ near the book release into account?

Tone, Disney+ and "3 years after real time" are the main reasons I avoid when I'm putting this in my personal time tbh.
As someone who has worked on Arrow, DC and Marvel Animation timelines, tone change especially doesn't mean much in a shared universe.

So I strongly agree with this ideology.

Well why do you put it in 2025 cause outside a 30 years the Skrulls have been on Earth comment there's really nothing to base it on

You're right that those don't mean much but nothing within the series really means much for what year it is. That's why I think we should go with a default placement and whether to like it or not right now in the MCU based on Disney+ placement and the general advancement of the MCU's time that seems to be 2026. If there's something that actually supports a year I'm all for it but since there real isn't anything I think that's the placeholder at the very least.

Decades can always be rounded up.

For example, in the Gotham episode "Nothing's Shocking" (set firmly before the final year the show takes place pre-time jump - 1991) they refer to Jane's dad getting shot "20 years ago". The date we see for that is 1972. 19 years can round to 20.

I feel like we're really reaching here with assuming based on vague, assumed or even not-always-accurate info; as someone who has had a longer experience with timelines than a lot of you.

You're right decades can be rounded like how an event that happened in 1995, 31 years before, in 2026 can be rounded to 30.

I feel like there's nothing to reach for. Again why do you think it's 2025? You've said there's nothing really to support 2026, I agree but I put it there because there's nothing to support 2025 either. Do you have a reason?

Also, you're still basing it on out-of-universe info that's not always been correct. Soooo yeah.

Ms Marvel's final scene and that show is firmly set in 2025.

This show is Secret Invasion not Ms. Marvel and nothing within the post credit scene with Captain Marvel firmly says it's right after the show or 2025 unless I'm mistaken. This isn't the first time we've had a post credit that's part of another movie and jumps ahead, look at Ant-Man
