I can neither confrim nor deny this statement
On Topic, I'm an atheist, ask me why!
I said ask me, not answer the damn question.
Exchange of the day.
Its like the posts of the day that make the funniest exchange.
On Topic, I'm an atheist, ask me why!
I've never even remotely understood the logic behind this.
"I don't believe in clockmakers."
"Why not?"
"I've throughly examined this clock, and I can see that the hands move because of gears, the gears move because of springs, the springs move because of tension, and so on."
"But where did all that stuff come from?"
"..."

Actually, it would be more like this:I've never even remotely understood the logic behind this.

Blaspheming people's religion is inappropriate. Watch it.
I had a Jehovah's Witness knock on my door and tell me this. I was talking to her and suddenly she comes out with:
"I have scientific evidence that God exists."
Intregued, I asked her what her proof was. She told me
"Scientists have proven that the events that came togther to create life were so improbable, that God had to have existed to start the reactions off."
Talk about blind faith.
I just said to her,
"No, that just means that the odds of such an event were highly unlikely to have happened. They can still happen though, like a coin landing edge side instead of heads or tails. Almost impossible, but I have seen it happen. Your reasoning doesn't even give any basis for God existing, just that an external catalyst must have been present. It didn't have to be your all powerful deity, it could have been another chemical."
She looked at me blankly, so I decided to wind her up and tell her I was a Satanist.
Some of the events in the Bible could have easily happened though, I do not dispute that. I don't believe in people (Sons of God or not) pulling a Jean Grey and coming back to life, but a lot of the events mentioned by others like the Flood etc are probably based in fact.
I dont think atheist is actually a religion, still we're talking about the clock making arguement itself
That is the most nonsensical argument I've ever heard. And I argue with mole 3 times a week, so that's impressive.I've never even remotely understood the logic behind this.

:lol:That clockmaker thing is total crap. When you see a clock in the desert, you don't think it's made by someone because it's so complicated, you think it's made by someone because it's a ****ing clock. You know what a clock is, you've seen it before, they don't occur in nature.
Exactly.Actually, it would be more like this:
"I don't believe in clock-fairies."
"Why not?"
"I've thoroughly examined this clock, and I can see that the hands move because of gears, the gears move because of springs, the springs move because of tension, and so on. And the instruments and marks suggests that it was made by tools. So the logic solution would be that a person made this."
"You are crazy. I have read in a book that it was clock-fairies that made it so it must be true because I have proof in form of a book that was written by people I never met thousands of years ago."
And it comes back to "Who created the clockmaker?" almost every time. . .

You're just looking for a gimmick because nobody knows who you are.
:noway:
thanks a lot, Joe.
