How many members here are Christians?

I was just being hilarious. My second best friend when I was growing up was a Mormon. I don't think he is anymore, but he was the whole time we were growing up together. They had to wear special underwear, but I don't know the specifics of it. Maybe it was a modesty thing, and they weren't allowed to wear boxers? Honestly, I don't know.

Maybe he had a bladder problem?

I want to see it.

I love the Simpsons riffs.

Like when the two alien guys come for Maggie in one of the treehouse of horrors.

"Greetings earthling"

"Marge, Mormons!"

and than the other one...

"You sir, are a moron."

"A Mormon, but I'm from Earth?"

Doesnt makes Cathilocs "less christian" or believe in multiple gods. It was just a way to make it more accessible to more people. Non-Cathiloc christians still celebrate X-mas and easter on the same dates right?

Correct and I'm not sure, but I think that this was done before any splits, when everyone was just "Christian", so naturally any offshoots would have these celebrations too.

Should we just talk about Christianity in this thread or should we make it more of a general Religion thread?

He made it all the way to the Cleveland Steamer.

You hate Jesus, don't you?
I had a long drawn out post that would have offended half the board posted but I quickly edited it.

.... You should all be ashamed of yourself.
...For what? I'd really like to know.
I am not sure what to be ashamed about.
Stop playing DSF, we've got the pictures.

That Korean immigrant is going to be scarred for life.
With which you can buy more decorations for December. :D

On a somewhat different topic: given the nature of the discussion on this thread, I think it might be a good idea to move it to the Lounge, since we're basically talking about various aspects of Christianity and how it's perceived and practiced in real life, not about how it's potrayed in comcs. Perhaps a general "Religion in Comics" thread would be more useful in this forum.

If there aren't any objections, I'll move this later today.
Yeah, I think it was just that Mavericker never came into The Lounge. I'm surprised it hadn't been moved before.
Speak for yourself.

They live in Utah, have to wear special underwear, can't drink tea, coffee, or booze, don't like boobs, and sometimes have lots of wives.
I would think that the "don't like boobs" thing and the "have lots of wives" thing would be contradictory.
I'm not sure about the believing that Jesus stopped here, but I may be wrong. I thought he found the plates and someone else just bought them here a lot earlier.

That's not all true. The special underwear thing, I never heard that at all. Tea and Coffee are iffy. Some think you shouldn't drink caffeine at all. Which is not bad considering how bad it can be for you, but it's not a rule. More of a guideline.

No booze, drugs is a definitive. And no premarital sex is a huge rule.

No mormon is allowed to have more than one wive. That was erased back in the early church days. Like dozens of years ago.

There are a group of polygamist's that live in thier own special city. Which I couldn't describe how crazy these people are or how they look. There town is equally scary. I delivered furniture there.

When it comes down to it the Mormon church is basically the exact same as most other churched I seen, just with different systems and small differences.

They also have grown a lot less strict in the last decade. The older people are the scary Mormons. The bad thing about some of them are that they are so judgmental. They always thing they are better that you. A lot of people I know absolutly hate Mormons. But I have really good friends who are active Mormons, went on missions and everything. Most of what you hear is probaly and rumor or exaggeration.
I know two or three Mormon kids and they're pretty cool, it's just that the South Park episode has made me weary of the origins of Mormonism.

Plus there are the troubling stories about "blood atonement" from the early days of the church...

Exactly. This why I don't follow any religion at all. How do I know it's not some guys huge made up story. It's worst than politics.

Anyone else think Maverick was just some nut whose made it his mission to convert the comic geek community to his religion, but had no concept of how to actualy convince people of things?

It was cited in Wikipedia.

This is the last remaining post from Mavericker.

And I just wanted to say:

"How fitting."

Also, what happened to the "should superman eat zombie brains" thread? i thought it was museumed.

and the should batman fly? is that still around?
