Heroes seasons 1 & 2 series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

EW's cover story on Season 2, plus they grade all 23 episodes. (There are some spoilers in the first link.)

Sounds like Season 2 is going to be a blast, especially since it's being cut up into two or three parts. I also felt that their grades were pretty spot on. I still say people are way too harsh on the final episode, but that's just me. I found it plenty satisfying when Nathan shows his true colors and saves the day.

But then, I was never watching Heroes for the action. I watch it for the suspense and characters. So, I guess your mileage may vary.

Totally agree. I loved the final episode. There was no need for over the top insane power battles. This was about the characters themselves.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I have to disagree (about liking the finale). The entire season was building up to that moment, and it lasted all of thirty seconds. Perhaps if they hadn't made such a big deal of this moment throughout the season, it wouldn't have been as much of a letdown; as it is, the season finale was mediocre at best.

As for season two, it does look awesome. Here's hoping that somehow, some way, it doesn't conflict with 24 this year so I can actually watch the second half of the show.

The whole season wasn't so much building up to a showdown with Sylar, it was stopping the bomb. Thats what the main part of the end of the finale was about, Nathan manning up and doing what was needed to stop the bomb. Sylar was there to facilitate all that, but it was pretty much obvious that Peter was gonna be the boomer, not Sylar.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I didn't like Season 1 and I'm conflicted about Season 2. I might try the first episode, but if it doesn't impress, it's gone. So much potential, and I feel they're wasting it.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Meaty, huh? But on screen, surprisingly thin. True, in Coleman's words, ''a TV show can't do what Spider-Man 3 can do.'' But it tried: Kring's original script was ambitious and epic, but had to be scaled back due to time and budget constraints. ''On paper, there was this big final battle, with buses flying and trucks tumbling. And I know we shot a lot that ended up on the cutting-room floor,'' says Oka. ''I understand the criticism, but in terms of the story, it served its purpose.''

 That would have been a lot better.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

It'll be interesting watching this show week by week for me. I caught up with the show over the summer on TV Links and didn't really have to stomach any kind of real breaks in the story or anything... This time, I'm sure it'll make or break my watching the show. If I'm not captivated by the hooks at the end of each episode, I'll find something else to watch - How I Met Your Mother, perhaps. If I do end up being entertained, I'll be (for one thing, surprised) keeping up with it each week. We'll see come Monday.

Season 2 seems interesting... But some of it sounds like a rehash of the same thing. A murder mystery? What, we didn't have enough fun with Sylar murdering super powered people by peeling off their skull? C'mon. On the other hand, I like that it is acknowledging political hot beds such as Katrina and illegal immigration... Comic books are good for social and political commentary so I don't see Heroes should be any different.

Again, I think what they did worked very well. I'm not sure buses flying through the air would've served the story's purpose as well... but then, it might have been infinitely better. Who's to know?

That wasn't exactly a mystery since you always knew it was Sylar. That was just suspense.

Anyways, yeah, maybe a grand battle would have been better. But, like they said, they couldn't afford it. Hopefully, we won't have that problem this season.

Well you work with what you got, can't blame them for that

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I think that the "Final Battle" in Heroes was worth watching just to see Peter finally give Sylar a beat down with Nikki's super strength.
