Harry Potter Discussion (spoilers)

I won't be reading the book......but I didn't feel like waiting until 2010 for the film to find out how it ended.

So thanks to the magic of the internet......I got the detailed summary.

What follow below ae not spoilers of the story itself but my opinions of the story. I felt I should mark them with spoilers for the overly sensitive and those that tend to formulate endings based on just opinions.

Read the ending.....it was horribly predictable right down to Snape's allegiance and the ending was quite anti-climatic.

Now obviously I'm not gonna get the same emotional impact from a summary that I would the actual story itself.....but still.....

But when it's all said and done...I never really had an interest in the books or story. They made for some entertaining movies....but so do a lot of books. Meh....

I got to the department store, Meijer, at about 11:45 and was out of there by ten after midnight. I've only read the first chapter so far. It was sweet.

I was number 400 and something at Border's, so I wound up just going to Wal-Mart and getting in and out in less than 10 minutes.

The book, so far, is pretty intense.

CHAPTER 3

The final scene between Harry and Dudley is tear-jerking. Wasn't expecting that at all, especially from Dudley.

There were at least 1000 people at my bookstore, and me and my friend were the third and fourth to get ours. I'm on Chapter 10 now. I must keep reading. Goodbye.

If we have to lock this thread and start a second Harry Potter thread, I'm leaving here forever.
We aren't going to lock this thread, but there is a thread specifically for discussing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

And thank you for observing the Spoiler rules. Half the fun of any book is being able to experience the story for yourself. (The other half, of course, is finding other people who've read it and discussing it with them. :D )

I agree

Exactly how I got mine.

Unless you're into the whole "geeking out" party atmosphere at the bookstores, you have a better chance of getting it elsewhere.

I have to admit that the first thing I did was skip to the very end and read the last two sentences just to get the answer the big question.

So, you know the answer....

Is he gay or not?

She makes it all work, and beautifully at that. Honestly, its the best story of the seven... But I'm not going to twist any arms if you're not interested.

Just Sayin.

New Ranking:

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
5. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
6. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
7. Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone

I'm about to start Chapter 20.

However, my frickin' ten-year-old brother is going to be ahead of me any minute now, and so I'll have to kill him if he says anything.

Damn kids read too fast these days. Literally, he reads a page in about 30-45 seconds.

To be honest....I'm seriously glad everyone is enjoying the book as much as they are.

While I'm not gonna read any of the books, at least I tried to get into the books. When the third film came out I tried reading the first book. I couldn't get past Chapter 3 or 4. So I recognized that me getting swept up in the books wasn't gonna happen....but to that extent, I never wanted to spoil anybody's enjoyment of the series.

So yeah...not that that tidbit adds to anything but I'm just glad its what everyone hoped it would be.

I hung out with friends, but I met a rather rabid 25 year old women fan that made me a little ashamed to call myself a fan.

Totally Gay. Big sex scene with Draco in the Malfoy Dungeons in the Final Third of the book.

You totally know there's going to be a TON of fanfiction just do to Malfoy holding on to Harry when they escape the fiendfyre in the Room of Requirement.

They keep showing embarassing footage on the news of freaky older fans.

Like the teenage girl I saw on the news the other day who screamed into the camera after getting her book that this was "THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIIIFFFEEEE!!!!!!"

Or the 22-year-old guy on the Today show on Friday who said that the Harry Potter books have "defined our generation". :sure:

I had to get mine at Borders due to a previous reservation.

It was cool. My only problem was that the winner of the costume contest was a man dressed as Mrs. Weasley.
