I fail to see how your baseless comments have anything to do with the crapfest that was Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Get back on topic. Now.
Did Bendis drug you? Oh god, I seriously think he did.
Soon you'll start raving on how Ultimate Deadpool was a masterpiece!
(lunacy on par with promoting FF:ROTS)

After reading what people said I thought "Oh this could be good" However I'm with Sacred&Profane this film horrible. It suffered the same mistakes as first film from a terrible Doom to really bad acting.
Then they add more B.S. Ok first the Galactus thing - if he was IN the cloud or was the cloud the cloud. There was just no reason for it. With today's technology they could do it and do it well BUT nooooo they took the cheap easy way out.
The switching powers stuff was lame and made me cringe I almost decided to turn it off then and there but I stuck with it. Also Sacred&Profane had a great point
besides the obvious "Lets hate that scene beacuse it was in Spider-man 3" Disappointed guys.
Also like Ourchair said about doom looking human again , It's lame and never should of happened. I could go in to more detail on this film but I'll just say this "The silver surfer was done well. The rest fantasti-sucked"
This could possibly of sucked as much as Batman and robin. I give it 1.5 out of 10
You think Venom's a good character, therefor I can't take you seriously. Honestly though this movie was really good. Much better than the first and One of the top ten Marvel movies IMO. It was better than X-Men 3 and Spider-Man 3.

Better than the first F4 movie, I don't give a damn what people said, Metalskinned doom is stupid (unless its Ultimate Doom and im still iffy on that), and I'm glad they god rid of it... I'm glad it was Doom, in a Castle, in Latveria, plotting to become nearly omnipotent... Doom was a BIG step up in the movie...But Julian McMahon is a better Victor Von Doom than he is a Dr. Doom... I'd have liked a different, deeper, more menacing voice in the mask.
It was definitely a more solid movie than Spider-Man 3...
But I'm still waiting for a Fantastic Four movie. These are pretty good attempts... But the Thing irritated me in the movie from top to bottom, and Ioan just doesn't seem smart enough to be a superscientist... The only thing they've gotten absolutely right so far has been Johnny Storm.
Galactus didn't bother me, you could see him in there for a second, and if Surfer survived, then the Big G did too... But Silver Surfer's voice just didn't fit... And that bugged me WHENEVER he talked.
Also, he looked like a moving action figure. I think there is probably a better way to pull him off, but they did a good job for the first people ever to do a live action Silver Surfer.
I realized who should be in the third movie, THE INHUMANS! The Inhumans would be great in an FF movie. I can just see Johnny and Crystal starting a relationship, Gorgon fighting the Thing and Black Bolt's triumphant victory against his brother Maximus at the end of the movie.

I liked it, it was good. Not great but good and enjoyable. My only real gripes, Doom was off, again. McMahon is horrible as Doom, though his scheme was much better. My second gripe is Galactus, the ending was very anti-climatic, I mean its ****ing Galactus for god's sake! He could of gone out in bigger way, or atleast in a way to suggest he survived, I mean the anti-god blowing up into nothing? Lame.
It may have been better to hold him off for a third film, just focus on Doom taking over Latveria and getting the surfer's powers and at the end have a bit of a cliff hanger "He is coming ... Gah Lak Tus" Cut to a teaser footage of him in space. The only problem with this is if there is enough material for another film. Now my biggest gripe was what galactus looks like, a confusing pink energy that vaguely shaped like his helmet. They should of had classic galactis with a bit of redesign sitting on a throne made from the clouds and with an incredibly loud and booming voice, I mean the loudest thing in the film with editing that makes the audinece **** their pants as he yells "You dare to defy me!!!" Thats how they should of showed mother****ing galactus! Still solid film
Well, I saw this saturday and I think it was okay. I like Spider-Man 3 more overall. It seemed to me like McMahon was just doing a Kevin Spacey impression as Doom. Nothing really gripping in it. Overall I didn't have any problems with the movie, but I don't see it as a big success though.
I agree. Having a really ****ty director and complete hacks for screenwriters doesn't help either.
I'm not the biggest fan of David Goyer, but why don't they get him to do these screenplays? It's pretty clear that no matter the comic book property, he's willing to try to take things apart and try to figure out how to movie-ize its core elements in a fundamentally enthusiastic fashion.
Finally saw it last night. Just about every aspect of the movie has been thoroughly thrashed out by now, so will try to keep it short!
Overall, I liked it. It wasn't "great", but I thought it was entertaining. I would have liked to have seen the Thing have more to do - and BTW, I may be in the minority here but I really like the Thing makeup and don't feel any regret that he isn't CGI! And I have to side with those who have commented that the actor playing Doom is a fine Victor Von Doom, but the script doesn't seem to have a good grasp on the armored "DOCTOR DOOM" the supervillain. Doctor Doom does not quip, joke, does not say "Lets go for a spin", etc. Still, I thought
Doom's plot to steal the Surfer's powers was "worthy of him" (he did that in the comic book too I believe), and I am really glad he donned the mask again and was the "armored Doom" there at the end
.
As to Galactus...
I actually have LESS problems with the "cloud" than I did BEFORE seeing the movie. I think Galactus was a victim of time/plot constraints. I fully understand the counterarguments - I really do! - but I think that introducing a humanoid Galactus would have meant adding another half hour or more to the movie, at least.... 'cause unless he was just an unspeaking ominous presence, the presence of a humanoid Galactus would have BEGGED for more backstory on the Surfer, on him, on their relationship, their falling out, etc. As it was, "Galactus" was a largely unresolved mystery. They didn't say Galactus "was a cloud". There was clearly machinery at work within the big swirling "space storm", machinery reaching for Earth, and it was clearly implied that there was an intelligence within/guiding the "storm". It seems like a missed opportunity for fans of the Big G, I know, but... I had no problems with it. And if a Surfer movie IS made... they left the door wide open.
I know - sounds like damning with faint praise, but I don't mean it that way. I had fun. I think the Torch is a funny, well-done character, I still enjoyed
Doom's return, above misgivings aside, and liked his fight with the FF
, the Surfer had a lot of cool moments, there were some GREAT visuals... and I was entertained. As a fan of comic books in general, with an affection for the FF and their supporting characters, I had a good time at the movies. *S*
Shadow
PS - I couldn't help but wonder, since it wasn't explicitly mentioned right away, if any in the audience wondered what was up with Alicia... that is, they didn't say she was blind, if I am remembering right, before her first appearance. It might have been readily apparent, but I am not so sure it would be, if you hadn't seen FF1....
What? Really? People have a problem with the makeup? They want it to be CGI?
It's a sick world...

I say 'Whatever'. I'm not a fan of FF, in fact I HATE the premise. But I LOVED McMahon in both movies and I don't think he's guilty of over-acting at all. He's just a badass, super-cool villain who you love to hate.

One thing I noticed while rewatching the film yesterday is that
there is no particular reason for Doom's 'redonning'. His face is back to normal, and he already has the board's powers, so he's pretty much sorted in terms of being bulletproof. He just puts the mask on, anyway. Like a fashion statement.
I LOVED this. It's the first time in years that a comic-book supervillain has donned a costume for no functional reason and it really suits this particular character, to want to appear like an intimidating supervillain.

I actually thought the CGI sucked royally most of the time, outside of the Human Torch effects. The Surfer just looked like a videogame
except when he was off the board
and
when the cloud passed through Saturn,
I thought I was watching an FMV from the Sega CD.
When Reed was dancing in the club, the stretching effects
reminded me of the old Max Fleischer Superman cartoons, with the shaky, liquid animation.

Nah, my date hadn't seen the first one and she picked up pretty quickly that Alicia was blind. By the way, I thought the actress who played Alicia was great.
