Isn't this a Dragon Ball movie and not a Dragon Ball Z movie? Should I change the title? Does anyone care?

I know your not. I'm saying goku didn't look like a master. Not race. He didn't. First he was a kid then a scrawny looking teen-young adult (like this actor) and later after he trained he was ripped , more serious look on his face , better stance ect... He looked right.


Besides nothing wrong with a white guy doing marital arts. Worked for Neo in the matrix. My point is for all we know he could embody all the characteristics of goku or at least the best of that for the film. Judging him solely on race considering he's not playing an asian he's playing a saiyan. Because guess what, christopher reeve and brandon routh aren't Kryptonian either but Reeve was still good.

He looks right for goku at this point in the story.

Actually Neo was a hacker, a pasty white hacker who sat in a cubicle all day.

Here we have a white guy, wearing culturally asian martial artist clothes. Which might have been okay if it weren't for the fact the EVERYONE else around him is asian. And his character is going to be the "one" who saves the day where the other couldn't. Basically saying "guess what people of asian decent, you're not good enough to be the hero in an american movie, white people only please" It just pisses me off that eventually there going to have the guy get blonde hair a blue eyes basically supporting the idea of an arian Übermensch being superior to all other races.

Oh and your Superman metaphor does not work. Because superman, in all medias, appears to be a white guy with black hair, Reeves and Roth are both white guys with black hair.

I still have problem with goku's race. It's an american movie and he's from another planet so the race thing doesn't matter. And I used Neo as he did fight like master sure artificial world but still.


That picture of Goku made me smile as I thought it looked cool. But I guess we'll agree to disagree as neither will change their mind on this. But that's cool, Not everyone can like this but hopefully some will enjoy it.

As I said, I have no reservations about changing race to be culturally relevant. I have problems with "white guy playing martial artist", but the thing that pisses me off the most is that the res of the cast is asian! I mean come on. I know I won't change your mind and you'll love this movie even if it turns out to be the crapiest crap to ever crap. I'm just pissed that apparently the stiudios can't find one good asian actor for this part. its really bull ****.

I think the problem is anime characters hardly ever like Asian, which makes them hard to cast.

Compare, this singer/actor Eriko Tamura, which appears in the film as Mai:

They don't like anything look each other.

That's why Fox thought it could get away with casting a white guy as Goku, because most of the time, anime characters don't look very Asian.

That's why Fox felt they could cast Goku as a white guy.

That's not my point, my point is HE'S THE ONLY WHITE GUY, aside from the other one who will be wear green make up. It just makes no god damn sense!

Maybe you should blame the people who made the show for making his transformation this way? And as multiple people have pointed out, why would Goku look asian? He is from ANOTHER planet.

I'm sorry, I just had to read through multiple posts about this silliness...perhaps you should tell Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson to stop using your keyboard...

but no, Yeah I'm exited for this regardless of what is shown. Only way I'll think it sucks is if I watch it and don't enjoy it at all
