DC Nation

Not to mention all the Batman stuff... Ugh. Please let this not be the case.

I really hope this ain't true. Robinson and Morrison are two of the best and most popular writers at DC and it would be silly to mess with their plans.

I'd love for morrison to pull a straczynski and sit on the last few scripts of Final Crisis. He said it was gonna be the last big thing he wrote for DC he's got nothing to lose except for letting the editorial get the better of him and ruining his opus. Final Crisis is supposed to be the climax of everything he's written for DC....i wouldn't let management interfere with that if it was me.

I remember shortly after Final Crisis was announced, they were talking to Morrison and he said the only reason he agreed to do it is that he broke down all the beats to Didio and got reassurance that the story wouldn't be tampered with (Y'know, plus the promise that Seaguy 2 would get greenlit). I've been wondering for a while if editorial conflict might have something to do with the delays.

And Robinson leaving is even more terrible. I love that guy.

The way popular culture is going - it seems things either need to be violent or quirky and make obscure geeky references. TV will never beat Preacher or Starman, respectively as the extreme of these qualities.

Robinson pretty much ressurected the JSA and we wouldn't have had all the stuff Geoff Johns did on that...heck we may not even have had geoff johns.....no we almost certainly would, but the shape of DC would be different that's for sure.

LitG:

My job would be so much easier if I lived in New York. During the day, I'd get a fold up chair and sit myself outside the Marvel and DC offices noting who came in and out. I'd find their waste refuse area and stick all their shredded documents back together by hand. And in the evening, I'd just hang out at McGee's bar.

Thankfully, that's exactly what one source was doing last week.

Last week, LITG reported that James Robinson had had a stand up row with Dan DiDio and had walked off Superman.

I was later told that this wasn't a creative nor editorial issue, but a personal one.

I then updated the story last week with a report from The Superman Homepage which reported Superman editor Matt Idelson as saying that Robinson "has not" quit the book.

It appears that was very specifically phrased.

Robinson certainly had quit the book. Past tense. And it was everywhere, I heard from DC employees, from Marvel employees, even from Diamond employees who had been instructed by DC not to mention James Robinson in any Previews article in any capacity. This was big news.

But then I started to be told that DiDio and Robinson patched up their differences, and suddenly Robinson was back on the Superbooks. And soon everyone was singing from that hymnsheet.

No harm done right? Well not quite. Because there was one person who has wanted to write Superman for a very long time and had been denied the opportunity. One who had even been told that he'd never write the Superman monthly title. And who, when Robinson stormed off, was approached by DC to take over the Superman book. And who instantly agreed. And was then ceremoniously dumped when Robinson came back.

In McGee's, everyone was drinking in commiseration to Mark Waid.

I understand that DC are in negotiation with Waid over this and related issues to find a situation that everyone's happy with. Guilt can be quite a powerful weapon in such circumstances.

I've lost my yearning for DC pretty much. Are there any series that would bne good to start reading to get back into it??

Suggestions?

Gotham Central by Brubaker and Rucka, All Star Superman by Morrison and Green Lantern by Johns.

LitG:

Grant Morrison is indeed writing a monthly Batman book after "Final Crisis"/"Whatever Happened To…"/ "Battle For The Cowl" and the like have wrapped.

And the penciller?

Get ready.

DC people tell me it's one Frank Quitely.

I can't wait. Hopefully they'll do for Batman what they did to Superman.

There's a Californian company known as DC Shoes, making skateboarding fashion gear. This is their logo.

Not too long ago, DC Comics decided to sue them for trademark breach of their own logo...

...as DC Comics also make and license clothing.

However, DC Shoes' lawyers looked into DC Comic's trademarks and discovered that, despite the fuss when their new logo was launched, they'd never actually got around to trademarking it properly.

In fact, DC Shoes discovered they had a case of trademark infringement from DC Comics.

So Warner Bros had to pay a significant sum to continue using the DC Comics logo.

Ho ho ho.

This is one of them clue pictures, isn't it?

The J on the Joker card is backwards...

There's a body within the Wayne Industries box.

Is the Batman with the covered mouth the Antichrist Batman?

I think that's Dick with Damian on the right. Damian seems to be holding some kind of cloth, wrapped around Dick's Leg.

The Batman costume in the glass case seems to be telling us for sure that Bruce is Dead.

The Black on Yellow batsymbol costume is probably Tim Drake. He's using one of those stick things that he's used forever as Robin.

And Why Harley Quinn? She's the only non-Batfamily person in the image.

Alfred's all gunned up.

The Red/Black Batman has me stumped.

In the new issue of Batman & The Outsiders, there were hints to
Azrael
returning and joining the team.

So maybe one of them are him?

Someone on Millarworld suggested these characters:

Tim Drake as Batman, Harley Quinn, Alfred, Dick Grayson as Batman, Harvey Dent as Batman, Jason Todd or the Anti-Christ guy as Batman, Batwoman, Damien, and either Bruce Wayne or Hush disguised as Bruce Wayne (hence the bandage).

I'm confident Two-Face is the crazy red and black Batman.

Remember, Bruce trained him for the job over OYL.
