Captain America Movie

I like the pics. Once Cap's costume is on the big screen with the right lighting, editing, movement, etc, it'll probably look great. Even in the still pics of the stuntman wearing the costume, I'm pleasantly surprised.

And I'm sure a more modern era costume for Cap will be introduced in Avengers.

I agree that he does look kind of like Robocop in the pictures. I'm pretty confident that it will look better on screen, because I don't think all the hundreds of people working behind this would allow something that goofy to show up in a Captain America movie. I think it's alright if it does look slightly campy, because this is a period piece.

Exactly. A certain element of camp should be expected, considering its placement in the 40's. A newer, sleeker, modernized version of that would look perfect for his appearance in Avengers.

I was just reading about the 1944 Cap serial, which was only loosely based on the comics (Cap is a D.A. named Grant Gardner and he doesn't fight Nazis, he fights a guy named The Scarab....though it is interesting to note that Grant Gardner's secretary is named Gail Richards, who only appears in the Ultimate universe I believe). And ironically enough, the guy in the Cap suit was a fat guy. Wikipedia literally describes him as overweight and average (he died a few weeks after filming was completed; the strain of filming had been too much for his heart and he collapsed in the locker room at a Los Angeles country club).

Also, I doubt that's the suit Evans will be wearing, it looks like it's a stunt suit for motorcycle stunts.

Maybe the first Captain America film will be Captain America vs. Robocop?

How awesome would that be? Eh?

Those images are fun and pretty much exactly how I'd do the WWII Cap suit. It's obviously not Evans and that stuntman is very goofy-looking, so it's important to reserve judgement until we see Evans himself.

Oh please, I remember seeing super early glimpses of Iron Man stunt work before the original movie came out and it looked like freaking Power Ranger armour.

Give it a chance

and remember all the Batman Forever jokes when images first surfaced of both Thor and Watchmen?

or public reaction to that magazine cover for Green Lantern?

everyones just looking for stuff to panic about

Was anyone even negative in this thread?

The closest thing to a criticism seems to be that he looks like Robocop which is not a criticism at all.

More superheroes should look like Robocop.
