Bruce Timm Universe Adoration Thread

Considering it's the one DCAU programme that runs completely off of its own steam (that is to say, it's not directly based on any character already established in the standard DCU)

So is Static shock!

Considering it's the one DCAU programme that runs completely off of its own steam (that is to say, it's not directly based on any character already established in the standard DCU) it's extremely good. Also, it's easily the darkest DCAU show of them all. Batman actually kills Mr. Fisk (I think that's his name) in the first episode.

While I do think it runs on it's own steam, without Bruce Wayne, the show wouldn't have done nearly as well.

Static Shock took place in the same universe a Batman and Justice League Unlimited and Batman Beyond? Interesting. This, I did not know.

It originally wasn't supposed to and there's evidence that it wasn't at first (Static says "Even Clark Kent had a day job" and then, later, he met Superman and didn't know his secret identity), but eventually, Superman and both Batmans (Static travels to the future and meets Terry at one point) crossed over into it and Static even shows up as a future Justice League member.

Another show that people often discount as part of the DCAU is The Zeta Project, a spinoff of Batman Beyond.

I never saw that , was it good?

It was alright. Nothing really to write home about. I'd probably rank it last out of the DCAU shows, though. I think they only did two seasons of it, never received a series finale and never was released on DVD, if that gives you any indication.

oh , I was think yay a new show to download but I won't bother , thanks

I love Batman Beyond, everything about it was cool, though I was never a huge fan of Blight.

I thought he was cool. He was played by Sherman Howard, who played Lex Luthor in the Superboy TV show. Howard was originally supposed to play Luthor in STAS, but they changed their mind and recast the character and casted Clancy Brown.

Really? That's cool. I've seen one of the crossover episodes, where Static meets Batman.

I used to watch that all the time. It wasn't DCAU quality, but it was a lot of fun. I can understand why it annoys people that it's considered to be part of the DCAU.

Really? I'd definitely call it better than STAS.

Yeah...I'll definitely admit that. But I think Beyond is better.

it is but beyond was more mature e.g first episode with bruce struggling with the idea that he was willing to shoot someone but resisted before he did something stupid , Most likely as it was a few years after BTAS and STAS so they knew the audience had grown up a bit

BTAS however is still my favourite

He just never seemed like an arch nemesis to me, Shriek, Inque, and Kurore (spelling?) were more interesting to me.

I think there were actually two (one had Robin in it), and there were also crossovers with Green Lantern, Batman Beyond, and the 'League. Oh and Shaq, and no I'm not kidding.

I liked Superman, most of the first season is meh, but the rest of it was quite good, especially once Darksied appears. In fact I think that it was the fist DCAU series where people sometimes die. Plus, it had the first appearances of Flash, Green Lantern (Kyle Raynor), Supergirl, Orion, and Aquaman (who was blue for some reason). Also, some of the things that happen in STAS have major consequences later in JLU.

So...how was he blue?

It was never explained, I assumed that he was just a blue Atlantean like Namorita. Also, he was less of a dick than in JL.

That reminds me, he was in like two episodes of JLU in season one then we never see him after Ultimatum. What's the deal?
