Batman/Superman Anthology Timelines

I suppose it makes sense that Earth-89 and Earth-203 correlate to one another despite being separate timelines.
Hypertime deviation, perhaps.
Marvel's whole deal is everything branches and there's no undoing that, but with DC the timestream will deviate for a number of reasons and you get these Earths that bleed off into a new one with the potential to stream on back to the original timeline briefly like a river.

I don't really understand hypertime is it supposed to be an alternate timeline or alternate universe?

So here's the two possible timelines of Birds of Prey

Present Day Timeline
1975: Batman
1978: Batman Returns
1979: Helena is Born
1995: Prologue
2002: Birds of Prey

Near Future Timeline
1989: Batman
1992: Batman Returns
1993: Helena is Born
2009: Prologue
2016: Birds of Prey

Basically, DC has their own canon events called "Fixed Points" via individual "pillars" in time. Darkseid's birth (per the animated multiverse), plus Superman arriving on Earth and Barry's mom getting killed are examples of said fixed points; because this creates a whole wave of different potential timelines.

Constantine killed baby Darkseid centuries ago on the animated Earth-1, thus creating two concurrent outcomes a la Hypertime branching: Darkseid dies (Tomorrowverse: Earth-1) and Darkseid doesn't die (the animated multiverse born from that pillar shattering into diverging timelines trying to stabilize the original outcome).

Technically if Birds of Prey follows a broad strokes version of the Keaton films it could probably be set in the then present day of 2002 if it's well.. Broad strokes

My personal rule is it's easier to accept that fashion and technology is slower to progress. Than the opposite. So that means the future of Birds of Prey is somewhat stagnant to the look of 2002. Even if it takes place years later. While the opposite would suggest the flash backs in the 1970s look like early 2000s. I do not buy that.

While the idea of cultural and technological stagnation is consistent with the Burton film look. Where the movies have to take place late 80s, early 90s. There are references to real people and historical events and technology of the period. YET much of the fashion and architecture looks like it is stuff in the 30s and 40s.

Well, let's just say for the sake of argument the same characters exist and the same general events happened.

Earth-89/Earth-203
1989
Events of Batman. [Earth-89/96, Alt. Version in Earth-203]

1992
Events of Batman Returns. [Earth-89/96, Alt. Version in Earth-203]

1995
Events of Batman Forever. [Earth-89, Alt. Version in Earth-203]

1997
Events of Batman & Robin. [Earth-89, Alt. Version in Earth-203]

1998-2008
Jason Todd, Tim Drake become Robin. Barbara Gordon becomes the second Batgirl. There's a second Joker. [Earth-203]

2009
Events of Birds of Prey prologue. Joker paralyses Barbara, Clayface kills Selina. [Earth-203] Later in July, the events of Catwoman occur. [Earth-89]

2016
Events of Birds of Prey. [Earth-203]

2019
Earth-89 crisis scene. [Earth-89]
Earth-203 crisis scene. [Earth-203]

just to be clear these are your timelines. You can do whatever you want. Those are just my interpretations. Feel free to use or disregard. It's all a fun discussion.

I absolutely agree Birds of Prey is just a separate timeline with similarities to the Burton and Schumacher films. It could never be a direct sequel for a number of reasons. Yet given it's short run and little info, the references to those movies are the only real sources to fill in the blanks.

Not going to lie I like it when you do mini timelines in this style

Forgive me if this was already noted. But in "Batman" there is a newspaper that is dated "Thursday, November 11".

Then Friday November 14th shows up later.

After this it goes back to Friday, November 7th.

I don't remember this scene, but there are some dates.
