52 Series Discussion (spoilers!)

Thank you. Jesus, you guys have destroyed everything that made sense.

:D Okay. Back on topic.

I mentioned it before but no one seemed to think too much about it. Magnus is stockpiling tin and mercury! I think that's pretty ****ing cool...

Also, what the hell happened to Skeets? I vaguely remember him being used for interfacing or something way back in the OMAC lead-in to Infinite Crisis. You figure that has something to do with this?

Expect official confirmation and plenty of news on that previously LITG-rumoured 52 weekly sequel "Countdown," the DC Universe book being "showrun" by Paul Dini, in about a month.

One little titbit I've discovered is that, befitting the title, the issue numbering system will start at #51 (shipping the week after "52" #52) and, week by week, count down to #0. Instantly grabbing the considerable audience from "52" and getting them to commit for another year - albeit one that runs alongside current DC continuity.

Another titbit is that newly-DC-exclusive Sean McKeever will be one of the writers on the title.

Paul Dini, Sean McKeever, and probably three others.

Goddamnit, there goes another $130

Awesome..... Although, I'm not sure any writing crew can match the 52 team.... even if Paul Dini is involved.

I'll be buying this, but I'm wondering how it will work with OYL continuity. How much time has passed in the main comics since OYL started?

Also, ***-bit. HILARIOUS!

I'm guessing either it will jump a year to the present, or it will coexist with the OYL stories, working to tie it all together for what I almost gaurentee culminates with the final battle against Superboy Prime.

I'm betting that the image released by Newsarama is a preview image of Countdown.

My guess would be that the image is actually a preview of what they're counting down to.

Although, the real question is pacing. 52 worked well because the superheroes were gone the whole time, and so they didn't need to worry about crossing over with the OYL books. However, putting out a book in real time that coexists with those books is going to create a real headache of "what happens when"?

Either way, that kind of thing doesn't bother me too much. I'm psyched.

So, we're getting close to the end of 52, and there's still a lot of unanswered questions.... But I was looking at Newsarama, and I figured out the secret of 52. The Four Horsemen we saw last week were just a smokescreen. In fact, most of the stories are a smoke screen, a distraction to cover what's been brewing right underneath all the plots since Week One, an ongoing theme that's been covered up by various mcguffins. By the end of February, DC's going to reveal who the real four horsemen are.

THE FOUR HORSEMEN OF ROCKING EVERYBODY'S SOCKS OFF! SWEET!

Within the last few months, KISS4K will be revealed, and all the divergent plots will draw together on the real threat facing the world. The final shocking revelation will be the mastermind behind all of this. A coalition of Lex Luthor, Skeets, and Darkseid is trying to tear down a youth rec center and from it's rubble, they're going to build a smoking lounge/rat-poison-martini bar for orphans and puppies! And the only way to stop them is by putting on THE MOST KICKASS CHARITY ROCK 'N ROLL CONCERT OF ALL TIME! RAWK!

Edit: Ace Frehley looks SO friggin' gay.

So I was reading one of the latest issues and something occurred to me. what if Skeets is the 4th horseman? They said the first one rode out ahead.

I mentioned it before but no one seemed to think too much about it. Magnus is stockpiling tin and mercury! I think that's pretty ****ing cool...

And he's got a Gold watch and accepted all that lead. He just needs a little platinum.

Yep, Skeets as the fourth Horseman has been mentioned on another forum, and it makes sense.

Anyone #39? Magnus has made his little metal man.

I just read this theory on another forum stating how easily DC could have screwed us over...

Imagine 52 #52 finishes. The missing year is now complete. Except it's not. All of the One Year Later titles are actually taking place one year after 52 ends, not Infinite Crisis.

The only problem with this is that the big Countdown thing would be contained in the book counting down from 52, and hasn't really affected the OYL books... so I don't think it's going to happen.

The latest issue involved Steel storming through Lexcorp (Lexcorp is so stupid. It should be Luthorcorp. Who names a company after their first name?). It ****ing ruled.
