24- The Bauer Power Hour series discussion (spoilers)

I think I'm the only one with a bit of optimism for this season of 24. Season 4 wasn't so great either, but it was followed by the awesome Season 5...so I'm just going to keep telling myself that this will be another Season 5.

It's actually not that spoilerific.

I've marked it as a spoiler below....but I left it very general. Its no worse than reading a comic solicit.

A long-thought dead cast member comes back and the show takes place in a new location

It's obviously Tony. I hear that Carlos Bernard is back on the cast this season.

Dear God, please no. Please, please, please, for the love of all that is holy in the world, NO.

If they do this, the show will have officially jumped the shark. No ifs, ands, or buts. I don't care how they explain it- Tony died in Jack's arms, was put in a body bag, and has been buried in the ground for over a year. I've said it before, and I'll say it again- there's a difference between your heart stopping for ten seconds and everything I just said a second ago. Tony is dead, and if they bring him back, I don't know what I'll do.

Though Tony was one of my favorite characters, I'm inclined to agree. His resurrection would be unnecessary...though I thought his death was one of the weak points of Season 5.

Heh.

*whistles innocently*

I watched 24 Season 6 Episode 1 which was included on the Prison Break Season 2 DVD set. It was good. I've been told it sucks later on though. Shame.

Season 6 was good, then it sucked, then it was good again, then it started to suck again, and then the ending (I thought) was pretty good. They focused way too much on the boring politics because they couldn't figure out what to do with Fayed.

See, the reason I can't get into 24 is because of the 24 hours rule. They should just change the show to Jack Bauer and be about him being a badass.

Also, 24 Season 6 should have been him in a Chinese prison, being told he is going to be executed in 24 hours. So he decides to escape. Imagine him planning an escape that has to happen in less than 24 hours. It would be intense. I'm thinking he'd break out 8-12 hours in, then spend the rest of the time on the run from the Chinese military.

And to increase the tension, have him be poisoned by some random Chinese scientist, who will only give him the cure once he's done what he wants.

I would watch that.

That's actually an awesome idea...

Really good idea you got there Project. I like the family expect of Jack, when you see him as a caring loving man. I love how its a huge contrast to his killer side.

So today I picked up the 9th issue of teh 24 magazine (I never knew the supermarket I live close to had it) and Keifer Sutherland would like to make a 24-spoof movie, in the way Airplane was done (not saying for them to copy the exact thing Airplane did, if anyone doesn't get that).

Kiefer says, "We've made a lot of jokes about that, actually. There was one scene where I was scalling the wall of the Chinese Embassy - halfway up the wall, the dart gun fell out and went off and shot me in the ***."

"There were so many things that have gone wrong when we were trying to shoot, we thought it would be very funny to do a film that was a complete spoof of 24. Either that or a musical."

More stuff as I read!

Oh man that actually sound awesome

From Wiki:

On March 12, 2007, it was announced that he had joined the Fox Network show 24 as Mark Bishop in a 3 episode arc for season 6.

Though it's supposed to be season 7...

Anyways, I was hoping he'd be on for the whole season (and without dying).

I just got the new 24 issue.

Some news and spoilers.

First, about the season finale:

"The writers considered an alternate ending for the finale of Season Six. The told the San Diego Comic Con audience that it featured Jack walking along a cliff, when a figure appears from nowhere, and it's Tony Almeida! He would have said, "Jack, come with me, we have a lot to talk about." Surely more proof that Tony is still alive?

Also, Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) will return for season 7.

Is Wayne Palmer dead? "24 is such a weird world, unless you see them go down, they're not out." (And also, D.B. will be starting in another show, so who knows...?)

WARNING! THESE ARE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 7. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO READ, DO NOT HIGHLIGHT THE SPOILERS AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THERE BEING SPOILERS.

'NUFF SAID.

  • The new President of the United States will be played by Cherry Jones (The Horse Whisperer, Erin Brockovich, Signs, Oceans Twelve, The West Wing).

  • CTU has been scrapped. It has been closed down and "officially disbanded. Underground possibly....?"

  • With no CTU, Season Seven will be in...WASHINGTON, D.C.!

  • Jack Bauer winds up going there as he has been summoned to 'a Senate Committee to face what are perceived to be crimes, and from this point Jack is pushed into a huge crisis!

  • Execs have suggested that Aaron Pierce will return.

  • As it has been rumored, Almeida may be making a comeback.

More news from the issue as I read...but I have to go to work. I'm on the clock in less than 10 minutes.
