The thing is, even though most of the episode seem irrelevant with the flash backs its still an entertaining story. An enjoyable short story
You're absolutely right. At least, I agree with you. Good call.

This episode sucked.
Due to fact there was no Hurley.
Hurley sucks.
yeah i hate hurley. he ruins episodes for me
Desmond... I hope he's not a time traveller. That would just be stupid.
Still stupid, IMHO. I still don't think Desmond is a time-traveler. It's too convoluted.
Are you guys still on this time travel nonsense!? There is no time travel, none of that nonsense. There is no hints to it and wouldn't fit the feel of the series. You make too much of it.
OK, let's clear some things up: Desmond is only precognative. He's not a time traveller.
PRecog
Timetravel
Two different things, Desmond is now a precog
The waiters stepped up to the table and laid a covered dish before each of the five who were forced to dine there tonight. Each waiter took hold of the cover to their dish and lifted, revealing the large baked crows within.
Meanwhile, Jack of Hearts sat back on the patio sipping a margarita with a gigantic smile on his face knowing that he and Desmond both had something in common. They saw the future.

Sorry guys, but after being shouted down about my time travel theories earlier in the season, I can't resist making you eat those ill-considered words. To be sure, some of you were less hot-headed than others, but the passion with which some of you stomped on my theories was astounding.

We don't know it's time travel at all, honestly. There's a number of other options out there.
That. Was. Awesome.
Desmond is easily becoming one of the most interesting characters on the show... He is definitely a great addition to the Lostaways. I was weary about where his development would go, but this episode eleviated any doubt - it was amazing.
- If he went to the past, how does he recognize the future?
- Who was that old lady, really?
- Because Desmond altered things, does that mean that Penelope isn't actually looking for him? And that Jack doesn't ACTUALLY recognize him? Where do these events fall?
- Is Desmond only going to the island now and competing in that around-the-world race because he has to? Because it is his destiny?
That's all I gotta say for now. That was deep... EASILY one of the best episodes in a while.
I simply think he's a nutcase. He didn't travel through time, evident by the old lady talking to him, he was merely hit on the head, and got a concussion. Then, he relived some of his past memories, hence why some of them didn't happen (ie the bar).
Agreed. It wasn't time-travel, it was a dream/reliving of his past. The fact that it was altered in some way from the actual past doesn't mean he traveled through time.
