Universal Monsters - Viewing Order

I should probably add a note about why some of Hammer Horror is included on the main page. Serveral Frankenstein and The Mummy films were co-produced with Universal, Peter Cushing was Frankenstein alongside Christopher Lee's Dracula in an unrelated film, and Jessica Van Helsing from the Hammer Dracula film series appears in a Universal Monsters magazine.

Is it possible that Metropolis is set in an alternate timeline given that it's set in a outdated future/alternate modern day (for us at least)

Apparently the Scorpion King from the film series is different to the one from The Mummy Returns. That means the timeline should be pushed back, I think.

"While it appeared Scorpion Kings in The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King are the same person, Stephen Sommers would later clarify that the one in the latter film being identical grandfather of the former. He further stated that there's no way Mathayus could have become the bloodthirsty warrior like his late nemesis Memnon. To further drive this point, The Scorpion King's sequels showed him perservere in ordeals which would potentially put him into a dark path like his grandson or Memnon."

I guess... but what really contradicts it being the same universe? Just because we don't see mobile phones doesn't mean they don't exist. Not seeing our present day in that movie doesn't contradict that our present day is concurrent to it. In my opinion, anyway.

According to TV Tropes Scorpion King 4 is set between the 1st and 2nd movies

Probably just a load of rubbish. Everyone seems to argue on the order of these films, but only the second one is explicitly a prequel to the prequel to the sequel of a reboot (but the kind of reboot that's the same universe thanks to The Mummy (2017)).

The biplanes, zeppelins and ticker-tape machine make it an odd fit for present day. It's more a vision of an alternative 1930s IMO.

NICE! Now we can hopefully begin work on a detailed timeline.
That sounds expensive. I think if I were to do that, I'd start with adding all of The Mummy (1999)'s franchise, since it's a good branching off section. Then The Mummy (2017), then add The Mummy: Dark Universe Stories, which adds The Mummy's Hand film series. So, probably just the timeline for The Mummy, and then I start adding franchises bit by bit. You're welcome to help out if I ever do, lol.

Fun fact: There will be a reference to The Mole People (1956) in the Dark Universe park in the form of a rotting corpse in Darkmoor village.

"You'll know from the time you walk in to Darkmoor that there are monsters around," Carsillo said. "In the outskirts of the village, there is a cage where they trapped a monster. It's all decayed. It's one of the Mole People. If you ever saw our old Universal movie 'The Mole People' … we have Mole People in Darkmoor. Right away, you know that this is a Universal Monster experience, but you also know, it's a little bit scary."

It makes me wonder why the story of the park is set in 2025 even though it looks like an old European village sometime in the 1800s

You're right. Is that really a contradiction though? We can have those in real life too. I don't see it much different than Black Ops II sharing the same universe as Modern Warfare (2019). The technology exists, so it stands to reason that a city in this universe could look like that.

don't forget we're getting a 2nd Mole People film. which is very exciting to me, one of the little UM films getting more love is always welcome :)

Don't forget the evolution of LA in the Alien/Predator/Blade Runner Universe
