Uncanny X-Men series discussion (Spoilers!)

If I were you guys, I wouldn't flip out until the issue is out. Every time (and yes, every single time) you guys have gone bat-**** crazy, you guys always turned out wrong.
First of all, I'm never wrong.

And secondly, if I AM somehow MIRACULOUSLY being faked out by that cover then that still doesn't change the "Milk the fans for all they're worth" part does it? In fact, it would be an even more agregious money grab on Marvel's part.

I wanted to see Fraction write more giant monster fights. :(

Whine, whine. You're always *****ing about them and money. Yawn.

And yes, you've been plenty wrong plenty of times. Get over it.

When? Where?

I'll grant that I complain about Marvel a fair amount, but money is rarely a sticking point for me.
You did the same thing with the Manifest Destiny mini.

I am looking forward to this and I'll wait to see who exactly it is. Jean was also teased and made to look like she was back in Astonishing's first arc and it wasn't her.

And reading #512's solicit doesn't seem to match up with what Fraction said he'd do with that issue. Hmm...

Yeah, see, there in iies the problem doesn't it. Since this is Greg Land, we really don't know who it is until the book comes out. At least another artist could make them look different.

Truth.

I just realized who it could be.
Sophie

Iiiiiinteresting...

Hmm... I like Matt Fraction but I don't really care about this. :(

And the solicit for #512 implies it's Jean:

UNCANNY X-MEN #512
Written by MATT FRACTION
Pencils & Cover by YANICK PAQUETTE
80s DECADE VARIANT BY TBA
"The Origins of the Species"
As the X-Men reel from the return of one of the greatest X-Ladies, Beast and Angel take the X-Club back to 1906 to investigate the origins of the mutant species as we know it. See the earliest stages of the Hellfire Club and the very first Sentinel ever! This story is not to be missed!
48 PGS./Rated T+ ...$3.99

Could be a curve ball...maybe another female is returning and it's not related to whatever host Phoenix is taking? Dunno.

AGAIN!?

Un-****ing-believable. Are there no new stories left to be told with the X-Men? ****ing hacks. So glad I dropped this.

I would agree...if it wasn't Matt Fraction. He is trustworthy with this, I think.

I read two Matt Fraction X-Men comics, issue 504 (I think), and the Annual, and I thought they both sucked.

Now Mike Carey, that's a guy who can write a good X-Men comic!

Carey's been dulling off a little lately, but I'm excited to see his next stage in Legacy, apparently he has something big planned for after the new arc wraps. The first 8 or so issue's of Legacy were friggin brilliant though. What I've read of Fractions Uncanny, has been very tame, but he's been slowly introducing a ton of ideas, some of which are awesome (Dr. Nemesis), and some that seem to be falling flat (Colossus still wimpering over Kitty, look I know it takes a long time to get used to things like this, but it's officially gotten old)

Carey's run on Adjectiveless was great. When it switched over to Legacy I lost interest.

I've only read the last couple issues, with Rogue, but they "feel" like an X-Men comic to me in a way I haven't felt in a long time.

And his Secret Invasion mini was the best thing to come out of that event.

no it wasn't

Captain Britain & MI13 was

jump on the bandwagon

Those are exactly the type of X-Men stories I avoid - ones that feel or read like typical X-Men stories.

I don't even like the X-Men, but I remember when X-Men 1 came out, and collecting the trading cards, and watching the cartoon. X-Men developed a certain feel for me, and when I read the last two issues of Legacy it just hit me that that's exactly what I think of when I think of X-Men.

I'm also looking forward to X-Men Forever.

Mat Fraction talks Uncanny X-Men with CBR

So with #508 having the Red Queen and the Sisterhood putting Psylocke into her original body, and Fraction mentioning in the article that she's a practice and what they're doing with her is something they want to do on someone else...it makes me wonder if it's really Jean on the cover and they want to use her body.

Although Fraction says that Red Queen is not Madelyn Pryor, and that Pryor is actually still dead, that could be him just giving a red herring. So if RQ really is Pryor, maybe she's trying to see if she can use Jean's body or something. I don't know. Just crazy theories popping in my head as I read the article.

Interesting and awesome stuff. I'm geeked! :D

Sounds pretty cool, I also like how Fraction has brought Northstar back. I wonder if Psylock's presence will have any effect on the new Exiles relaunch.

I like how this is like a core X-men book instead of a special team.

Psylocke is back and not written by Claremont. Yay! But she is mindless. Boo! But I have no idea what they did so there may be two of them. Yay!

This is was the first issue I really liked. Land's art was a little better in places. Pixie looked more like Pixie. I watched Milk today, and can see parallels between the two.

"Congratulations, you freed the coffee machine from the tyranny of Daylight Savings Time. You're a genius."
