Ultimization Game Discussion Thread

What if, instead of always ultimizing characters into the currently existing UU, we ultimize certain ideas in and of themselves? It could be an ultimization of the MC2 comic, or the ultimization of a modern-day League of Extraordinary Gentleman, or whatever.

I suppose if it got enough attention if could be a spin off game...

Just wondering... why do we always ultimize 616 concepts? Why not something completely unexpected, like a DC character, or something from outside of comics? I think it would be a challenge.

I like this game being about just ultimizing Marvel characters. I think it's because you get to play with their 616 relationships to characters or concepts/plots that have already been ultimized.

I'm not a huge fan of the "ultimizing DC" idea, but other people might like it.

It's not just DC....it's revamping any diffent character the way you see fit. But I can understand where you're coming from.

Spin off games work......if there were enough people.

But you can do that with anyone and anything. I could tie Robin into Superman if given the right amount of time.

But you can't tie Robin in to Spider-Man, or anyone else in the Marvel U for that matter, and that's what's different with ultimizing other-universe characters into the UU.

I don't think Project Bass was talking about ultimizing characters outside of Marvel into the UU.

I think he meant, say he won and he wanted the next round to ultimize Detective Chimp. Obviously I wouldn't try to place him in a UXM arc. But instead redo his origins within the DC universe.

I assume that's what he meant. Trying to tie Aquaman into a USM story is just plain stupid.

So, say we ultimized Detective Chimp - would be replacing him in the standard DCU, or would we be doing an "All-Star" type version free of continuity?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If I won sometime, I was actually going to surprise everyone by posting someone like Constantine. I don't expect you to tie him into the Thing, as that would just be horrible, just ultimize the concept on it's own.

I think this would be best as a standalone, general ultimization game. Would anyone be up for it?

I thought I was digging your ditch.

I'd be down with it.

This is kind of hard to explain, but I'll attempt to.

Let's say we have a game called General Ultimization Game. I start it, and choose to ultimize Superman. It's up to the players whether their entry is completely stand-alone, or whether it fits into their own little "Ultimate Universe" - which could be expanded on by each entry. For example, the next week could be Batman, and one player might just do him as a stand-alone entry, while another might add to his "Ultimate Universe" by building up a continuity between his Superman and Batman entries.

And then, of course, it would be up to the player whether they want to tie in other concepts, such as Doctor Who or James Bond into their "Ultimate Universe".

It's a bit confusing, but I guess we'd have to try it out before we know if it works or not.

That's pretty damn cool. So we're basically each building our own little Wold-Newton universes.

Yeah. It would definitely be a challenge.

I don't want to take away interest from the main ultimization game though, so I have no idea how a schedule on this would work.

It's a pretty big investment. We could do it on a bi-weekly schedule.

I'll wait for some more interested players, and try start something. I just want to have a go ultimizing Hellboy, Batman, Doctor Who, The Prisoner, Conan, Mitchell Hundred, Authority... whatever. Awesome.

AS long as it clears with MWoF, it's fine with me

It was originally his game, so I guess he has final say...

I already said you guys can do what you want. I like the game as is and probably won't be playing the other way because I like useing existing continuity or my own ideas to build off of.

But you're free to do as you want.

I'm fine with a new game. I haven't been able to throw myself into Ultimizing anything lately in the regular game, so this would probably be fun. Would the regular Ultimization Game continue?

I don't want it to replace this one, so we could have both going at once.

I'll try cook something up later on.

I'd definitely want to continue this thread as is.

I think we can easily start branching out from specific characters to events and teams and such to keep things spiced up.

Anyway, looking foward to the next round!
