Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

It is not readable.

All-Star Batman is readable.

Mighty Avengers is readable.

This is not.

Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

adding the other squadron supreme has put an odd twist into the story. they're doing an awful lot of setup with very few issues left to wrap it up. and if one member of a team decides to switch universes, as i was led to believe, continuity could become more compromised than it already is. that said, i guess i'll continue reading this issue of infinite crisis... or ultimate power... or secret wars or whatever its become.

an ungodly mess?

This really sucks
I loved supreme power.
this was poorly executed from the get go. I don't think we will see the squadron supreme series pick back up... and if we do it is going to suck a lot. Not even worth it.

They should have just chained JMS down and made him write more MAX issues and it would have been one hundred times better. They make me angry.

Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I'm getting slightly confused with this now :?

Sorry let me rephrase, i'm slightly more confused with this now than I was !!

I'm just going to assume for the moment that the Scarlet Witch has caused something major to happen with her reality altering powers hence her reluctance to use them !!

At least we are getting somewhere close to the bottom of this whole thing, maybe Fury will wake up,last page last panel issue 9 and it was all a nightmare !!

Artwork was solid as always with Land and there was some good 2 pagers, but the confusion the storyline is causing me has to drag its score down !!

3.0/5

Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Land reused (at least) one of his Phoenix Endsong panels in this one, the one where Wanda is embracing herself is just like the one where Jean was embracing herself in Endsong.

Very bad issue, the only part I like was when the X-Men came to rescue Reed.

They're all nuts.

And I hate when people describe art as "crisp."

What about using the term "crisp" when describing a fart?

When does this crap take place in the X-men time line? Or an any time line, for that matter?

I don't have a ****ing clue. Apparently neither do the writers.

DIrishB is going to be pissed he incorporated the Supreme Power timeline

Indeed. At this point I'm pissed I ever even bothered with an Ultimate timeline. It turned into something comparable to a bad marriage. I see blaring continuity mistakes (mostly courtesy of Bendis), and it makes me hate this thing I have put so much time and effort into. Its a ****ing mess. End of story.

Oh yeah, and my opinion of the issue pretty much echoes most of the previous posters. I almost passed out from shock it was so terrible.

Why do I do this to myself?

Due to the general awfulness of all this, we should combine all the UP threads into a general Ultimate Power hate-fest.

Upon re-read, I award this book a five out of five! It's not everyday I see pornography serve as comic art (traced is better than none)!

/sarcasm.

Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Just read this. You know, until this issue i'd never read any jeph loeb stuff. I saw an interview with him on some podcast and got immediately turned off and frightened at the prospect of him dictating the future of the ultimate universe for the next year or so. He seemed like an old, out of touch tool. I said to myself, well, perhaps i'm rushing to judgement. let's wait and see what happens.

We're doomed.

I swear to god I felt like i was reading a book from twenty years ago where EVERYONE SPEAKS IN HISTRIONIC CLICHES.

i agree the writing switch is obvious and grating. and the introduction of..that...other Squadron Supreme seems to me a slap in the face to the core concept of the UU, being independent of any other continuity. Especially continuity from.....wait for it.......twenty years ago!!

I can't help but get the feeling the direction of this series was changed to fit what Loeb is planning with this whole Ultimatum thing. Cause, did anyone notice on the recap page it mentioned the Ultimates are no longer with SHIELD? Isn't this the first time we've seen this mentioned outside of previews? Like maybe this was decided after the series started?

And HOW DID DOOM GET OUT OF THE ZOMBIEVERSE?

P.S. seven of nine. heh heh.

P.P.S. Newspapers in the supremeverse are printed in latin?

In the context of the first few issues, this actually wasn't that bad.

Of course that's like saying rabbit turds don't smell as bad as elephant ****.

But still...at least stuff happened. Sort of.

I think.

Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Well, with the original Squadron showing up, I really beginning to think that the big surprise of Ultimate Origin/Ultimatum is that the Ultimate Universe was created by Reed Richards/The Illuminati/Someone from the 616 universe as a test to see if a reboot to the actual 616 universe would work.

Which means I'm glad I stopped reading the UU with Ultimates 2. :D

Re: Ultimate Power #7 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I wonder. . .does the rest of the internet just have bad taste or are we just elitist snobs?

I think it's a little of both. I've clearly become far more snobbish about my entertainment mediums since I started posting here.
