How would you rate Transformers?

After The Island (2005), I was convinced Michael Bay had some kind of crazy genius for movie-making, but nobody else seemed to see it. After Transformers (2007), the whole world can see it. Transformers (2007) rules!

Hulk (2003) is one of my favorite movies, but you can't honestly say it delivered what it promised in the trailer. From the trailer, you would have thought it was an incredible thrill ride, but the movie wasn't like that. Oh well, you can't be too upset by that, because the trailer can promise more great spectacle and action than any movie can deliver. Except that Transformers (2007) does deliver the goods, and more! The first time I saw it, when I was thinking, OK, I've seen the big set piece, and the movie's budget was obviously blown there to good purpose, I was wrong footed because the show just got bigger and bigger and better and better. I've never seen a movie before where I couldn't tell where I was, because the pinnacle of thrills I thought could not be surpassed obviously was being surpassed, so where were we now?

I was very happy with the second Fantastic Four movie, 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), and I expected to go see it at the movies many times before it left the big screen. But I had had the same plan with Fantastic Four (2005), and then The Island (2005) came along, and I saw that twenty times and had to stop when they weren't showing it any more. I'm not keeping track with Transformers (2007), and I'm taking turns seeing that and 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), but there's no doubt - even though I'm a hugely biased Fantastic Four fan - which the greatest action movie is.

If I have one complaint against Micheal Bay, it's that he should stop haunting the Fantastic Four franchise. It's darn good now, it can stand competition - but not competition like Transformers (2007)!

Watching the Autobots land on Earth and then transform in front of Sam for the first time was like watching God create Earth...

This is the best Summer film I've ever seen in my life. Hands down.

5/5

Shockwave, *****es!

Transformers director Michael Bay has responded to Paramount/DreamWorks' decision to become exclusive to HD DVD instead of releasing movies on both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD:

Bay said: "I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

Will this change Paramount/DreamWorks' mind about at least releasing Transformers also on Blu-ray Disc? We're not sure, but we have a feeling Mr. Bay isn't the only unhappy one. Yesterday's press release itself concluded with a note that read, "Today's announcement does not include films directed by Steven Spielberg as his films are not exclusive to either format."

So when transformers 2 comes around there will be NO Michael Bay , this could be bad as another director may change the more realistic feel or worse the looks.

There's no way he sacrifices however many millions of dollars he gets just because they won't put the movie on Blu-Ray? I call bull****.

What a douche.
