See, now that looks one hundred times better.

Exactly. Lighting, movement, and sound will greatly alter how good the costumes look. Here, it looks absolutely fine.

Yeah - I'm hoping that all the Asgard stuff happens in flashback so we can wonder if Thor's telling the truth or not.

I have hope because Joss Whedon's foreward to THE ULTIMATES vol 1 is so laudatory, I can't help but think he's going to make the movie as close to that as he can.

Isn't the avengers movie supposed to be a bit of a combo of the Avengers and the Ultimates though, not just one or the other? I assume Cap will be likable like he is in the 616 universe, rather then a jerk like in the Ultimates. Plus in terms of following Ultimates vol. 1, doesn't Klesier seem rather redundant since the 616 Red skull would be in the Cap movie. I don't think Marvel even as the rights to put the skrulls on screen.

Plus doesn't that tie the hands of the Thor movie, there wouldn't be much dramatic tension if the entire movie is a flash back. Where would he fight Loki, if he is banished to Earth and if they are fighting on Earth wouldn't someone notice?

Difinetly the lighting and set for that first picture. It didn't look Asgardian, This background does. And that makes it work

Cap wasn't a jerk!

I'm pretty certain that the movie will most likely be ULTIMATES vol 1, but without the Pym/Wasp fight or the Thor mystery. It will open with them getting the Hulk, and then them fighting Skrulls.

I have a feeling it will be skrull doing superhuman testing, on with the hulk (inject with super human serum which gives him a boost is strength) who escapes and puts the Avengers on the path to this enemy

Happy to see Loki with his Horned Helmet off to the left... But overall, this is really helping increase my excitement for the film.

I have every bit of optimism for this movie. It looks like Branah is turning this into a visual feat. And I like how they streamlined Loki's helmet.

I have to admit, that pic looks pretty sick.

I just hope the movie doesn't get bogged down with a bunch of Avengers tie-ins.

He kinda was.

Plus Fox has the rights to the Skrulls.

Also frankly 616 Ultron was a superior villain to Kleiser. Kleiser wouldn't even make sense as a character in the movie universe, considering in the movies the red Skull is Cap's war time nemesis. Not mention the Hulk in the last Hulk move was more based on the 616 Hulk then the Ultimate Hulk

Again I think they are combining the 616 and Ultimate universe and that's for the best, there are certain things for both universes that are useful.

Why does Fox have the rights to the Skrulls?
Skrulls are characters from the Fantastic Four property, in which FOX has the film rights to. Therefore anyone in the FF property cannot be used anywhere else. Like how Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch can't be used for Avengers either because they are X-Men characters.

really? that's frustrating.

Especially since Scarlet Witch has probably spent more time as an Avenger than she did as an X-Men villain.

The fact is films based on comics have to be treated like separate entities, not like part of a vast interconnected universe.

That's why Iron Man has face off against members of his own rogues gallery rather villains from another comic.

With a movie you have to boil a comic book to its most basic elements, I.E the heroes, their supporting cast and their rogues gallery. Villains and characters that are connected to another character will most likely be off limits.

That's why a straight adaption of Ultimates Vol. 1 wouldn't work, it combines too many elements from other things that would be off limits. They will likely have to go with an Avengers villain rather then the Skrulls.
