The new Spider-Man cartoon to air on the CW.

Anyone know when this is out on DVD and going to be shown here? I missed a few episodes (like every one past the 3rd or 4th one) and don't want to spend a while getting them all on pc.

it was awesome. LOVED the latest ep and love the show in general. I have such respect for a kids show that trusts its audience enough to have ongoing continuity and serialization (see also: Avatar), and to handle it all so well. The memory of Uncle Ben helping him fight off Venom?!! Genius.

my only concern is that there's been so much spidey lore packed into this one season i find myself concerned for its longevity. It feels like the creators are worried they're gonna get canceled and are doing everything they want to right out of the gate.

Well it's better to be safe than sorry. Besides i see it as making the first season so kick-*** that the network would beg for another season.

But there's still alot of spidey lore left to explore.

The latest episode was amazing. You know how it ends but the ride is awesome. Juggling Spidey's origin story with Venom was genius especially with Uncle Ben as Pete's guardian angel. Brock's descent to hatred is sprinkled around but it doesn't appear as drastic as the last episode, you actually feel sorry for him. You also get the origins of both counterparts in one episode. If only the third Spidey movie did half as good in the Venom origin as they did here, it would have actually been epic.

Just watched the struggle with the symbiote episode now. Brilliant. The fight in Peter's mind was really well done, and I liked how a lot of the shots were very similar to the films, but improving on it (for example when he is first ripping the symbiote off in the bell tower).

The moment at the end where Eddie bonds with Venom was wicked.

Another great episode.

I liked how Venom chose Gwen as a target over Mary Jane (it makes more sense in the show's continuity) and that Pete seems to have a realationship with Gwen now...assuming she dosen't die, of course.

I loved how they got rid of Venom by having Peter convince the symbiote to come back to him. That was not only epic, but it also gave me the hysterical image of Eddie screaming "I thought what we had was special!"

I'm a little dissapointed with Peter's disposal of the symbiote (yeah, there's no one you know who can rip up a ton of concrete) and how Eddie's fate was never specified, but the Thanksgiving dinner was a nessacary scene and I can understand not doing that.

Looking forward to next season!

Well that sucks. I only saw the first three or four episodes of this series, so I was all excited to pick up the first season on DVD, only to hear they're going to release the 13 episodes... on four separate DVDs. *blecch* I guess I'll just wait it out until the eventual(?), cheaper(?) 4-disc set.

Just find someplace to watch the episodes online for free. It's not hard. That's how I saw the vast majority of this show and several others that air before I'm willing to wake up in the morning.

I'm not sure if anyone cares, but here's a synopsis of season two, taken from Wikipedia:

Following their confrontation in Season One's finale, Peter will start the second season searching for Eddie Brock but one of the main plot lines will be a gang war. [4]
New characters that will be introduced in the second season include Master Planner,[5] Molten Man,[6] Roderick Kingsley,[7] Kraven the Hunter,[8] Calypso and Silver Sable.[9] Kraven is set to become a member of the Sinister Six.[10] There will also be the return of first season characters including Green Goblin,[7] Doctor Octopus, Black Cat, Chameleon, Vulture, Sandman, Rhino, Electro, Venom, Tombstone and Hammerhead.[11] Other first season characters like Chameleon's associates Quentin Beck and Phineas Mason will also return but in a different form, as Mysterio and the Tinkerer respectively.[3] The former is set to appear in the premiere episode of the new season,[12] which is scheduled to air in March 2009.[5] The first arc will be four episodes. Some episodes will take place during holidays.

I'm hoping the gang war arc is used to clarify what's going on with Foswell. Is he the Big Man, or is he just a guy at the Daily Bugle who'll take power if he needs to?

I wouldn't really call it a step-up yet. The old series was great for setting up arcs and multiple inter-weaving storylines. So far, this show is just more or less standalone episodes that sort of all link together, so it's not as vast. The only thing that makes it better so far is the excellent animation and the more contemporary dialogue.

I finally saw this. I love it. More than the '90s Spider-Man series or the MTV Spider-Man series. The animation is cool, the voices are perfect (though Neil Patrick Harris was also perfect in the MTV series), the opening is great....

There has been mention of a seasno boxset apparently.

So the second season just started over in the UK, and it's possible to watch them over the interwebs.

Interesting that Liz is in the opening credits over MJ. That probably doesn't bode well for Peter and Gwen's romantic relationship since dating Petey is the only way I can imagine her earning a spot in the opening.

Also, Mysterio was awesome.

"You put me away!"

"Really?"
