The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Your Team

Second Arc of Houde's Dream Team, which consists of...
Indiana Jones- Leader of the Team, a depository of past knowledge
John McClane- The bodyguard of Indiana Jones and field leader
Daniel "Oz" Osbourne- Scout and possesor of hidden poer
Ashley J. "Ash" Williams- A fighter, through and through
Ginevra "Ginny" Molly Weasley- A witch who is looking for her lost boyfriend
Duncan MacLeod- A Highlander and immortal. On a quest to become, 'the one'
Doctor Who- The team's eccentric funder and orginizer.

Freak Show

The arc begins with the team investigating in the swamplands of Louisiana, Everyone is here, minus Indy, whose seen communicating from a van parked on the side of the road. Doctor Who is also not present. They were told they also need to find an Alec Holland, a hermit in these parts, and find out some information he has. As the investigate him, they are attacked by Deadites. Ash, getting to into it, chases the deadites into the swamp, leaving a wounded Oz behind. The sun begins to set in the background.

Ash comes upon an old campground, with a crystal clear lake in the middle. He looks around, hunting for deadites, laughing manaically as he is prone to do. He opens one door, and finds a dead body hanging from the ceiling. Another door, he finds two people, obviously in the throes of passion, or they were until someone had killed them. Ash hears chanting from a woman's voice, and goes to follow it, but is attacked from behind, and knocked out.

The team resumes tracking Ash once the sun goes down, and Oz gets healed due to his werewolf powers. He remarks that when he is changed into the werewolf, he feels a strange pull. The team arrives at the Camp grounds, stumble upon the same dead bodies Ash had, and find out that he was attacked by someone. Duncan gets ones of his headaches, indicating there is another immortal around. The team steps forward, only to see them staring at two individuals, Jason Vorhees and Leatherface. The team attacks them.

Ash comes too only to find himself on a street. He looks up at the name, which says Elm street. He sees that his true hand is attached, not the metal one, and that he is not carrying his shotgun. Perplexed, he steps into the street. He ventures to the only house with lights on, and goes inside. He opens the door, and finds himself a S-Mart again, in the Housewares section, with his boss yelling at him being late. His boss looks different, and he sees that underneath the S-Mart shirt, the boss is wearing a green and red sweater. Ash attacks him, wrestling him to the ground, and ripping off the S=Mart shirt saying that he's not honrable enough to wear an S-Mart shirt. The man is revealed to be Freddy Krueger, and that Ash is dreaming. They get into a fight, but Ash prevails, able to wake himself up at the correct moment in time.

Duncan manages to figure out which one of the attackers is immortal, which is Jason Vorhees. They get into a Machete/Katana duel, in which Jason shows superior strength, but loses to Duncan due to his complete lack of any skill. Duncan chops off his head, which starts a Quickening. Leatherface is killed by a fire spell from Ginny, after he tosses around John McClane and Oz some.

Oz transforms into his werewolf form once more to resume tracking. He then flips out, and attacks the group, they manage to stun him. Indy, listening in, asks if Duncan is okay. Duncan nods, and with JAson's perverted memories, he can understand what's going on. The team follows him, after Ginny magics Oz to his holding cell at the League's base.

Ash wakes up to find himself on a table. At one edge of the table is the Necronomicon, which smiles when Ash wakes up. It is chained though, and can't reach him. Ash looks around at the faces staring at him, which include Pamala Vorhees, Laurie Strode, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Susan Foreman. The four ladies, chanting in an ancient tongue, and plan on sacrificing Ash to summon Cthulhu. The remaining members of the league arrive, and attack. Pamela and Laurie both die, while Susan and Bellatrix escape. Ash uses his shotgun, which was near them, to blwo bullet holes in the Book of the Dead.

The table Ash was one, which was made of vines, becomes alive, and assembles into a creature. He thanks them for saving him from being a pawn in evil witches schemes. He reveals himself to be Alec Holland, or as he is now known, Swamp Thing. He gives them some cyptic warnings, and departs. The team arrives back at the van to see it wrecked, and Indy gone.

End of Arc

Obviously, this sets up that a more sinister force is still out there, and trying to disrupt the natural balance of the world. The League is going to be forced to intervene, as this person is the one behind the kidnapping of Indy.

What do you think?

I dig it. It was great fun.

Third Arc of Houde's Dream Team, which consists of...
Indiana Jones- Leader of the Team, a depository of past knowledge (kidnapped in previous arc)
Doctor Who- The team's eccentric funder and organizer.

Whodunit?

This one begins with the team wondering how they will find Indiana Jones, when John McClane's phone rings, it's his old friend Gilbert "Gil" Grissom, who moved to the :as Vegas Police Department recently to head there CSI group. He mentions that there has been a rash of murders in Las Vegas, and he needs John's help. John asked he knew about them, and Grissom replies that there number was left at the last crime scene. McClane and company go to the Montecito Resort, the hotel the convention is in.

There, Duncan, Oz and McClane go to investigate the murders, while the others, Ginny and Ash, are left behind. Ginny, meditating with the Sword, feels a strange pull, and her leaves to figure out the source, Ash goes with her, and his famous quips are heard.

Grissom, all by himself, mets up with the John and his friends. They investigate the murder scene, which took place in a hotel that's having a convention, a convention of famous detectives. McClane asks who was murder, and Grissom mentions it was the honoree of the convention, A man called Columbo. As they investigate, they hear a commotion. Duncan and Oz go to see what it is.

The commotion was a fist fight in the lobby between, Thomas Magnum and David Addison. Duncan breaks up the fight, and David Addison remembers him from a case in the seventies. Duncan walks off with him, while Oz asks Magnum what happened. Magnum replied that ever since the murder of Columbo, Addison had been acting strangely. Oz offers to buy him a beer, but before they get there, they hear an old lady scream. They run to the noise, where they find Jessica Fletcher, screaming at two dead bodies in the convention floor, who are identified by Magnum as Jonathan and Jennifer Hart. Jessica Fletcher apologizes for her screaming, the dead bodies took her by surprise, she has seen plenty of them in her lifetime. Her and Magnum look at the clues, which consist of a knife in both the bodies. The knife has a snake on the blade.

Ginny and Ash are traveling in the back alleys of Las Vegas. Ash comments on a phone booth that seems out of place, and Ginny gives it a look, and shrugs, saying she knows little of 'Muggle' lifestyle. Ash gets offended at being called a Muggle, not understanding what she means, and then the booth openes, revealing Doctor Who. He tells them he wishes to accompany them on this trip. Ginny shrugs, and continunes to follow the sword.

McClane and Grissom arrive at the newest murder scene. Grissom calls in the rest of his team, annoyed the Jessica Fletcher corrupted the scene by walking all over it. Jessica replies that in her day, they never had all this fancy equipment, and that they solve cases by instinct and actual detecting. The get into a shouting match, and several people back her up, including cameos by Laura Holt and Remington Steele, Jake and the Fatman, and Matlock. All the detectives are trying to offer advice to Grissom, and with him occupied, McClane has Oz try to follow the scent. Oz catches on, and the leave the lobby, searching for the criminal. They end up behind the casino, where Oz mentions the person got into a car, and drove off. He also mentions he can't follow the scent there, when Fletcher, having followed them because they were acting strangely, mentions they won't need too. Just check the security tapes to find out who was there. She also mentions that she knows what Oz is, having dealt with werewolves before.

As they walk to the security room, she inquires about the katana underneath Duncan's trench coat. He explains that he is a collector and avid sword master. She laughs, saying that she's met someone like him before as well, and mentions Conner's name. After some tlaking, where John figures out it was a group of people, three of them, and they seemed to appear in midair right before the car, and got in to drive away. Two of them they have dealt with before, Susan Foreman and Bellatrix, the other one, a male, had bright green eyes and dark hair. Getting the liscene plate number, they go to ask Grissom to run it for them.

Ginny arrives at a warehouse, and sees a car pull up. Doctor Who gasps as Susan Foreman walks out, a former traveler through time with him, and his supposed granddaughter. Ginny eyes become huge as the other man steps out, the sword twanging when he does. It's her old boyfriend Harry Potter. The three of them walk into the warehouse together. Before she can scream out a greeting, Ash covers her mouth.

John, and the other, find out the car is a rental, and they go to warehouse were the address was for it. The see the other already there, and walk inside. They enter the room, and find Indiana Jones' body, dead, with a note stabbed into his body by a blade that's similar to the one they found at the hotel, with the inscription on it that Ginny says she's remembers the language from one of the books at Hogwarts. Before she can read it, and explosion is seen in the distance.

The hotel the detective convention were staying at, explodes.

Jessica Fletcher remarks it was a good thing she came with them on the trip.

I wanna do a "League of Extraordinary Animals", going for more scifi/fantasy characters:

Krypto - superdog
K9 - Dr Who's Sidekick robot dog
Luggage - Rincewind's Chest on legs from Discworld Novels
Aslan
Danger Mouse
King Solomon from Tom Strong

I don't like having two dogs but thought it'd be ok since one is a robot. K9 could play a sort of Oracle role, co-ordinating the team from afar. I imagine King solomon playing a kind of Martian Manhunter type character. danger mouse and luggage would be buddies with DM riding on Lugg's back...kinda comic relief. I like the idea of danger mouse having to communicate for luggage. Aslan would be the leader, since although Krypto would probably be more powerful he's too unpredictable and has limited intelligence.

They could fight villains including:

Blowfelt's Cat -From James Bond...the true mastermind behind blowfelt's schemes
Russian - Cat's and Dogs, ultimate fighter
Lassie - Everyone hates lassie..present day very old and bitter lassie
Gorilla Grodd - He'd get them all together
Tazmanian Devil - Looney tunes
Crazy Frog - Just so I can kill it in the first panel

Huh. Interesting thread. Doing one without characters from the future, past, or alternative universes is tough, but I was able to put one together.

McCheese's League of Extraordinary Gentleman
Solid Snake - No brainer. Master of espionage and the perfect soldier.
Lupin the III - Master Thief. He also happens to be funny and lecherous.
Brock Samson - The Swedish Murder Machine. 'Nuff said.
Jimmy Kudo/Conan Edogawa - Brilliant detective trapped in a kid's body.
Buffy Summers - Slayer strength, speed and agility.
Ken Masters - Martial artist with powerful chi attacks.

Honorable Mentions:
Veronica Mars - Teen detective. Went with Kudo because the team's already got a skinny blonde.
Ryu - Ken seemed more like a joiner, but they're essentially the same. He'd make a few appearences.
Ichigo Kurasaki - Way too powerful.
Ashley 'Ash' Williams - Lupin's got smartass on lockdown. Love this character, but he didn't really work for this.
Angel/Spike - Only wanted one Buffyverse character. They both could have worked, but she's kicked both their asses.
Leon Kennedy - His abilities matched up almost identically with Snake. Who is just cooler and better at what they do.
Dante, Son of Sparda - Not a joiner. Too powerful.

Just one thing wrong.... instead of Solid Snake, I think you should go with Big Boss (still young, but after the eyepatch)

You forgot the most important pop culture animal of all -- BUTTER DOG!

(My personal mission is to use the phrase frequently enough for the board to register in Google's search results. Mwahahahahaha. )

My 1970 League would consist of...
Raoul Duke: a former journalist working in South America who's since become disillusioned and is now delving deep into the counter-culture. He's the nominal leader of the team. (from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He'd also be revealed to be Paul Kemp, the primary character from The Rum Diary)
Number Six: A secret agent of the British government who spent a time trapped on an island at an undisclosed location. British intelligence is hunting him for the information he knows, which is also a key to the conspiracy the League is trying to unravel. (from The Prisoner)
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds: A seemingly never-aging flower child who can see the future and the past and work other magic, using the influence of hallucinogens. (from the Beatles song)
Michael Corleone: Now a hugely powerful and corrupt politician, with the Corleone family mostly entrenched in legitimacy. (from the Godfather)
The Working Class Hero: An Everyman, who represents the worker's spirit and vigor (from the John Lennon song)
Benjamin L. Willard: The protagonist of Apocalypse Now. He's seen things, man!

The story would be about fallout from the Watergate scandals, which would tie into a worldwide conspiracy involving the Island from The Prisoner, the assassination of Kennedy, and the assassination of Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin (who would appear as a sort of spiritual analogue for the Trinity). It would be sort of a last twilight of these counter-culture symbols who now have no place in the world.

There would be a strong emphasis on musical mythology, rather than literary. Sister Morphine and Cousin Cocaine from the Rolling Stones song would show up as henchmen, with Napoleon in Rags from the Bob Dylan song as a primary villain. Also, the faked moon landing would tie in somehow.

Edit: The green beret from The Ballad of the Green Beret would be muscle for hire for the bad guys.

I would SO read that!

Check out my idea for Captain America: Born Too Late, if you haven't done so already. I suspect you might appreciate it. It covers a number of the same themes.

Part of the reason it works so well is that it uses a bunch of ideas from a similar project I'm working on.

But, it's bedtime. I'll definitely check out the Captain America proposal later. ;) It might go hand-in-hand with a character idea I had: The Spirit of '69.

Number Six is from the 60s. You can have Columbo instead! :D

But Number Six would blatantly be in a League at some point because he kicks ***.

It ended in 1968, which means by 1970, he'd be off the island and on the run for a little bit. ;) So I think it's perfect.

I wouldn't mind some more of theses "Your own" team things. Could be fun like "Your own Justice league" where you pick your "Superman" type "batman" type ect....

I agree. I really enjoy reading everyone's suggestions. Even when I don't recognize someone's choice, I go look it up and am often fascinated by what I find. :D

So... let me try to paint my LXG world a little more...

With the Magna Carta in 1215 AD, Britain was technically run by a parliament, and in this era, the Ministry of Magic (in its most basic form, a way for the Wizarding World to interact politically with ordinary society) was organized. At this same time, King John I of England opened the first Talamasca House in England to monitor the supernatural world. The Talamasca eventually became autonomous from the crown but never ceased its careful study of the world's non-human inhabitants... It will later be revealed that the Talamasca is the source that has funded the Watcher's Council for centuries upon centuries. They reveal themselves to Rupert Giles, the last of the original Watchers, and request his assistance to find the Boy Who Lived, who was last seen in the Americas... I'm not entirely sure what the plot will be yet, but that's the basic set-up. I don't want Voldemort to be the villain, because that'd be waaaay too easy... I'm trying to think of Dark Wizards from other mediums...

Here's My Tentative Line-Up for my Team:

Rupert Giles (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will play a relatively large role in setting up the team, but I think that it will be Buffy Summers herself who ends up as the team's leader when it comes down to it. Buffy will be in her mid twenties, as is Harry... They will be opposites, but very much alike, both of them having been known as the Chosen One, and eventually finding solace in eachother, perhaps as a romantic couple. At first I see them hating eachother, though.

Harry Potter (The Harry Potter Book Series). I think that regardless of how the series ends, Harry will exist in this world... Either being revived by some dark forces, or being a dark loner figure blaming himself for all those he failed to save. If, as many suspect, the death of voldemort erases the scar from his forehead, I would have him carve it back in and refusing to heal it, as self-punishment. After a decade on the road (remember, with HP continuity, book seven takes place in 97 or 98 ), he will look more and more like his godfather Sirius Black. Exploring America on Sirius' flying motorcycle... Until Buffy and Giles track him down with the help from an Ancient Vampire.

Armand (The Vampire Chronicles), after working with David Talbot, the leader of the Talamasca, to write his life history, he agrees to act as an Agent of the Talamasca, observing the Journey of Buffy (whom he will dislike and distrust) and Harry (whom he will love, at least until the introduction of Clint. Eternally 16, but alive since the age of Byzantium, He will add an interesting dynamic to the group... I would love a confrontation between Spike and Armand... Spike underestimating his sheer power due to his age, but that wouldnt be important to the story.

Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. (The Indiana Jones series) He will be 108 years old by the start of this series, but an encounter with the fountain of youth returned him to his twenties when he was in his sixties, so he looks around his mid-sixties. He will look like a cross between Sean Connery's Henry Jones Sr. and an older Harrison Ford. When the threat of the Anti-Christ rears its head, Buffy and Harry turn to this experienced adventurer to find the weapon through which they might destroy him.

William Parry (His Dark Materials), bearer of the newly reforged subtle knife, also called "The Godkiller". This is the only means by which they will be able to destroy Damien. Perhaps when he appears the knife remains broken, and they must find a means by which to repair it... His father will have known and been close to Indy, so he will look at Will as a surrogate son...

Dr. Egon Spengler (Ghostbusters), When Evil rears its head, Ghosts don't merely disperse into the air like they did in His Dark Materials, they become darker and continue to grow in power and influence, becoming less and less human. Spengler will have retired as an active member of the Ghostbusters, instead studying the nature of Ghosts. The growing evil around the world has led to business being higher than ever for the Ghostbusters, and when he connects the facts to the emergence of the Anti-Christ, he realizes that the Anti-Christ must be destroyed, even if that means no more ghosts to bust.

Clint Majors, the son of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss from The Rocky Horror Picture Show (although it will later be revealed that he is actually part Transylvanian, being the child of Janet and Dr. Frank-N-Furter). He will be raised as a wholesome young boy, his parents having absolutely refusing to acknowledge the events that occured in 1975 that led to Clint's birth. His quickly discovered sexuality will give him power, and with Armand he will discover the side of him that will give him the persuasive abilities of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.

Jay and Silent Bob (View Askewniverse, Most specifically, Dogma) Their role as Prophets will be finally explained... They will also be caring for the newly begotten son of God, who will have to play some sort of role in destroying the Antichrist. The son of Bethany Sloane from Dogma I'll name Joshua Sloane... He will be seven years old when the story begins, but I see it taking place over seven years, so when he finally confronts Damien he'll be a fiesty Fourteen year old raised and trained by Buffy, Harry, and all of the other characters listed above.

The Big Bad of my Series will be Damien Thorne (The Omen), now in his early forties... He is, quite simply, the son of The Devil, and the most darkly evil being on the planet. He is working to throw off the balance created in the aftermath of the His Dark Materials trilogy (which im having trouble reconciling with the world of the Vampire Chronicles, but it will come to me in time).

I'll think up a more coherent plot soon...

Hmm... I think my image of Harry as the loner could still work, as long as I ignore the epilogue...

Ooooh....

OR, Damien becomes directly responsible for the deaths of Ginny and their children, driving Harry into seclusion with a reconstructed Flying Motorcycle.

I'm thinking I might also want to get some aspects of the Dark Tower series into this story... Maybe Randall Flagg will replace Damien as the villain of the story... I'm not sure, but I'm sure that once I read the Black Dossier I'll want to update this idea some more.

You could have the team save the world from Damien, then realize there's a whole multiverse of worlds to save, which could bring in The Dark Tower aspect.

Rupert Giles (BtVS) would have to be in my team. A genius, magical aptitude and just generally badass.

Jack O'Neill (Stargate SG-1). A real leader, and he's got those one liners down.

Noah Bennett/HRG (Heroes) Hardcore, loyal, and one of the most badass members of the Heroes cast, and he doesn't have any powers.

Sarah Connor (Terminator series) Possibly one of the toughest women alive?

Egon Spengler (Ghostbusters) He's got the inventive brains the group needs.

Nina Ash (Angel) I was gonna go with Houde's choice of Oz as I thought a werewolf would be good, but changed my mind and went for the incredibly hot Nina, who can also get kinda hairy...

Zombipanda's team is wicked-awesome. Mine has more super-power people.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - The American League
*Note: Not all characters are American.
>Solid Snake (Metal Gear) - The badass of the team. Real name David. I think he could operate under a different codename if there are copyright issues - Iroquois Pliskin, etc. The first Metal Gear has been established as taking place in 1995. MG, MG2, and MGS all take place in 1995. In 2009, Snake is supposed to be 37. So in 2007, around the time this League is supposed to be taking place, Snake is 35 (2007 was when the first quarter of MGS2 took place).
>Hiro Nakamura (Heroes) - The teleporting, time-traveling hero. He's kind of like the Nemo of the team.
>Suzy Black/Black Orchid (Detective Comics) - I wanted to include some obscure characters.

The 80s League
>Alec Holland (Swamp Thing) - This is just a nod to Moore himself.
>more to come

The Current British League
>Hannibal Lecter (Red Dragon) - The wild card of the team, he is the same psychopathic cannibal we all know and love. Lecter was born in 1936 (in 1944, in Hannibal Rising, he was eight years old), and went missing with after Hannibal in Buenos Aires. Thomas Harris, the author of all the Hannibal Lecter books, has left Hannibal's fate open. He should be 71 today, supposing he survived the years after Hannibal until now. Hannibal's psychopathic, cannibalistic tendencies will quickly cause some distrust among the team. Nevertheless, he is the team's leader.
>Jeff Tracy (Thunderbirds) - Thunderbirds takes place in like 2010, and Tracy's eldest son Scott is supposed to be born around 1996. So the only character I can use is a slightly younger Jeff Tracy.
>Purdey (The New Avengers)
>Joe Bulmer (2000 A.D.)
>Cassidy (Preacher)
>Mildred Hubble (The Worst Witch) - The Worst Witch is a clumsy schoolgirl witch from Jill Murphy's best-selling novels of the same name.
>Catweazle - A Saxon hermit and wizard. He's a weirdo.
>Faction Paradox (Doctor Who) - The modern British League's enemy, an evil cult led by a time lord named Grandfather Paradox.
