Apparently one film will be an adaptation of the Hobbit, and the second film will sort of bridge the gap between Hobbit and LOTR, with stories from the LOTR appendices and such.
Huh...? I wonder if it (the "sequel") might also include any material from The Silmarillion?

Del Toro's been hitting the mythological creature stuff pretty hard. I have no doubt that he'd do well with bringing The Hobbit and Super-**** Talking Smaug to life.
It'd just be nice to see Jackson do the whole thing.
Agree, but I'm still extremely happy with Del Toro directing and Jackson producing. It'll have a slightly different tone/feel that the LotR Trilogy, which is exactly what it needs to be. I think the way things are panning out will result in a success.
It could be horrible and tank at theaters, but right now it seems just the opposite is likely.
Um.....this will suck.
