I saw the opening sketch for Mind of Mencia and it had some guy complaining about his ipod bleeding so Mencia gave him the iPON. I almost laughed but I figured I would have been laughing at someone else's ingenuity. I then promptly began to change the channel and ended up watching The Office on Hulu.

I plan to buy my girlfriend a mac for Christmas, one of those big 25" monitor ones. i figured her ipod would be more compatible with that than her delltop, but could anyone tell me if it is just as susceptible to virus' and annoying updates every two minutes? And are WoW and Steam compatible with Mac's or would I have to buy/download some program for that?
The virus question. No, not ever. There are no viruses in the wild for mac. There are like 12 malwares, but they involve the user actively installing the malware (they're disguised as codecs to run certain porn sites).
To the update question. No, important updates can be set to download on their own in the background, you'll then get a one time "Install and reboot or do it later" pop-up.
To the WoW question. Yes, all Blizzard games are hybrid discs. They have both a PC and Mac version on the same install CD/DVD. Installing is stupidly easy. I personally get better performance on my mac install of WoW than I ever did on PC.
To the Steam question. Sadly no, Gabe Newell is a douche. Wanting things like a $1 Million license per game (which he only demands of Apple) and his company having a say in hardware options (again, which he only demands of Apple) has kept anything Valve off Macs. With that said, you can install windows on a mac for Valve and other games that don't support apple. (I have Windows installed on my MacPro to play games like Mass Effect and Final Fantasy XI). So all you'll need is a copy of Windows XP SP2+ or Vista.
As to iPods working better, I've not really noticed a difference. Generally, if an iPod is working crappy on a windows machine, I've been able to track it down to an issue with Windows (ie: bad dll, or registry entry for iTunes).
Oh and PS: Macs used to be deficient on the GPU/video card options, which is why a LOT of gaming companies bashed the mac. As of the last refreshes on the iMac and MacPro, you can get the high end nVidia GeForce 8800 GT(S).
