Star Wars - Timeline (New Canon)

He barely does anything in the films so, yeah, it was surprising to see him show up in The Clone Wars had and to see that a novel is being made. It makes more sense now that I've gotten that far in The Clone Wars. I really like the setting up they're doing.

How far are you in Commander DIB? I have a level and two chapters left. Unfortunately due to the stupid waiting system that's gonna take me a long time since I need to do a ton of grinding.

I finished the last chapter last week. Three stars on all the missions. Just leveling up my buildings and units while I wait for the next chapter to be released. They released chapter 9 less than a month after release so I imagine they'll release another one soon.

My advice is to focus on upgrading your money and ore buildings as much as possible, as well as base defenses, and the unit/starship buildings as much as possible when you can. Upgrading the money and ore buildings will obviously increase your collection rate, and make it easier to upgrade everything else.

Defense towers are helpful, as they'll go a long way fending off attacks from other players.

And of course, when you can, upgrade your unit buildings and launch pads, to increase the types of units available, the amount you can max out at (currently I'm maxed at 82 units, with most unit types between level 4-5).

Also, a tip. Use Chewbacca from your hero recruit building. He has a lot of health, and targets defense towers first when attacking. Use a couple medical droids with Chewbacca, as well as tanks and speeder bikes and a few Wookies to focus on turrets, and you should be able to beat all the missions with three stars if you send your troops out in the right way. 3-4 X-Wings (leveled to at least lvl 5) can also help clear out a lot of turrets before sending the ground troops in (I always start by sending 4 X-Wings and the ship they give you to attack turrets first, then I send in ground troops to mop up any remaining turrets and buildings.

Overall it's pretty easy, but I'm sure future chapters will get much harder. I'm just upgrading everything I can in the meantime. I have 3 droids for upgrading so can usually upgrade around 3 buildings per day (since most take a day or a little longer to upgrade now). My headquarters is level 6 (only one more to fully upgrade it I think), all my turrets are between lvl 4-5, my shields are all level 4, and everything else is level 4-6.

Also, another useful tip is to build as many of every building as possible based on your headquarters level. While the extra troop producing buildings may not be needed for building troops, they do increase your troop max and are pretty cheap at level 1. Same for the launch pads and resource producing buildings (since those will increase your resource intake rate).

And be smart with your walls.

I positioned my headquarters (the most important building, since if it's destroyed by other players or the AI in defensive missions you automatically lose) with three lvl 4 shields around it (which also protect all my turrets), my banks/ore storage buildings, and all 10 turrets I have inside my walls. All my walls are leveled up to lvl 3-4. Most attacks don't manage to take out my headquarters, and those that do are big money spenders who've rushed upgrades and unlocked the most powerful stuff.

Place your resource (gold and ore) buildings outside your walls--since anyone attacking will get those resources anyway, but I think what you've collected is preserved unless they destroy the banks/vaults. Also place all troop and starship buildings, launch pads, etc outside your walls and surrounding the base walls, since it doesn't matter if they get destroyed and can absorb damage while your turrets attack enemies.

That has worked pretty well for me.

Hmm. I don't know how I feel about that. This game's waiting thing really ticks me off. I'd be fine if it were just a couple of hours but some of these are days long. It's ridiculous.

Right. Let me just persuade ol' Chewie to join the Empire real quick.

Dude, it's a free mobile base building game. Let me know when you find one where the later upgrades don't take days. Seriously, your expectations are so unrealistic sometimes.

I'm a mind reader now and supposed to know you chose the Empire? What hero units does it let you use?

Whichever ones it lets you use, check out their health vs damage output. The one with the best balance should be upgraded as much as possible. Then use that with whatever the Empire version of medical units there are.

The Rebels film is being aired again but this time with a special scene featuring James Earl Jones as Darth Vader

I don't play these kind games so this is a new experience for me. I don't play mobile games. I'm a console, PC, and handheld guy.

It was a joke man :\ I looked and the best one isn't unlocked yet. It's an AT-AT.

Cool. I'll have to check it out (again) for that scene. I liked the pilot movie, a heck of a lot more than I thought I would.

I used to be a huge console game player, but play hardly ever now since it's tough to find the time. Mainly because for the last several months whatever free time I have I spend watching/reading stuff for the various timelines I do. It's almost like a full time job. PAY ME!!

Is it sort of a dark AT-AT? I've seen that on some attackers unit lists and wondered what it was. Well, try upgrading to get that. Medical units won't work on it (since its a vehicle, least I don't think they will). But that things seems to have a lot of health and damage output anyway so that'll probably make a huge difference for you in terms of completing levels.

Marvel announced a new SW comic today at NYCC, the fourth in the new continuity done by Marvel (fifth counting DH's SW-Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir mini) and their third ongoing series (SW-Princess Leia will be a mini-series):

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=109086

It follows Kanan, one of the characters from the Rebels TV series. Apparently the first arc will pick up just after Episode III and focus on Kanan (who at the time is a young Jedi apprentice) escaping Order 66 and going on the run.

Another minor update to the timeline, removed the "original story" placement from the SW-Rebels Story and Activity Book since its not at all an original story, but an adaptation of the Rebels short "The Machine in the Ghost", which is also adapted into the young readers book "Chopper Saves the Day".

Glad I waited to order that (the info comes from someone who'd purchased it on theforce.net boards).

Also updated placement for the first couple Servant of the Empire books. Jason Fry, the author, confirmed the first SotE book occurs a year before the pilot episode of Rebels, so in 6 BBY. The subsequent novels will apparently tie into existing episodes and expand on the stories told in those episodes, offering side stories, etc. So SotE #2 - Rebel in the Ranks likely occurs at the same time (and is partly an adaptation of) Rebels episode 4 "Breaking Ranks" (though expanding on the episode and offering story material not covered in the episode itself, since the episode will focus largely on the Rebels characters, and Zare Leonis, the main character of the SotE novel series, will guest star in Rebels Ep 4, whereas the novel will adapt part of the episode while telling an original storyline, much like Ezra's Gamble did).

No idea where SotE Books 3 and 4 will fit in, but those are at least 7-12 months from release so we won't get info on their summary/storylines for awhile.

So have now watched Star Wars - Rebels Eps 1-4, and I must say, I'm enjoying it, far more than I ever did for Clone Wars.

The characters are all relatable and likable, and it definitely has the Original Trilogy feel to it, whereas Clone Wars had the Prequel Trilogy feel.

Anyway, really pleased with Rebels so far. Anyone else checked it out?

I'm just about halfway done with A New Dawn and then I have one or two more things after that to read and I'll finally be at Rebels. Really looking forward to it, A New Dawn has me wanting to see more.

Just checked it out. Not bad. Standard tower defense game but the addition of hero units is cool.

I just ordered A New Dawn from Amazon (along with several of the MCU comic TPBs) as a Christmas present to myself. Could've read it on my PC but it's just annoying.

I bought the epub and am using a text to voice app to have it read to me during my walks. Very easy and quick.

Interesting. I'll have to look into trying that.

Galactic Defender is ok. I'm not jazzed about the gameplay, it's pretty basic tower defense. I do like the Champions units, and how you can place multiples on the map as you level up and buy them (it takes awhile but each mission levels your character and towers up and gets you some credits... only problem is you have to spend 10,000 or 30,000 credits per pack... so I'm thinking it's sort of a 1 per week type thing unless you spend real money on the game). But the Champion units are pretty useful. Mainly for slowing down the enemy units and their "powers" (Luke slows down enemies around him for like 10 seconds, and Darth Maul does some lightsaber attack that wipes out a good 7-10 enemies if you place him right). Using the special ship support is pretty helpful, but should only be used judiciously since you only get so many of those without having to buy more.

I'm just playing the first world "Tatooine" and leveling everything up, mastering boards, etc. This game is a lot more difficult than Commander is.

I'm in love with it. I was really into Bloons Tower Defense and this is like a fast paced version of that. And yes, it is WAY more difficult than Commander which, for me, makes it more fun. I'm almost done with Hoth on The Light Side but haven't started The Dark Side.

So I just opened up Endor earlier today. Got my third champion last night (now have Luke Skywalker, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Chewbacca), which has made completing some of the earlier missions on hard and extreme difficulty easier.

Now I'm saving up for a Durasteel pack (30,000 credits), since the heroes in those have a higher level cap and better skills.

Gonna play through the rest of Endor and try to finish as many missions as possible completely, then going to go back and play the Dark Side campaign (only have Darth Maul right now, but he's really good).

Unfortunately Chewbacca kind of sucks. He dies... a lot. He has pretty low health and damage output (even when fully leveled), so I'm not impressed. Even his special attack does very little damage with no other side affects (like Luke's slowing down enemies and damaging them, etc).

It's funny, because Chewbacca in SW-Commander is a great unit. High health, high damage output, seeks out and destroys turrets first, etc. If you pair him with a couple medical droids he's hard to beat.

But the SW-GD version of Chewbacca is pretty horrible. I mean, he's a Wookie. They're tough, durable, strong, etc. His health and damage output should be much higher.

Oh well. Still a fun and challenging game.

Also, have to say, don't see how Star Wars - GD can be canon.

I mean, for one, there is literally no storyline. While it basically adapts some battles from the films (Battle of Hoth from ESB and Battle of Endor in RotJ... I don't remember any Rebel/Empire battles on Tatooine at any point in the series).

The other thing comes down to the characters. Prequel era characters who are dead by the end of Episode III interacting with Original trilogy characters makes no sense, continuity wise.

I suppose it's possible to just assume to make it canon, only certain characters can be used in certain mission worlds, but even that doesn't explain Tatooine... since there were no Rebel bases being invaded by Imperials, or vice versa, at any point in the film series as far as I remember.

Yeah, no, this isn't canon. It's purely impossible.

I've been so distracted catching up on Fatman on Batman (apparently the reason why The New 52's canon makes no sense is because, according to Scott Snyder, the writers chose what remained canon from pre-New 52) that I haven't been listening to the book. I'm gonna be so far behind on Rebels. Might just wait for season one to end to binge.
