I personally still think it's just the Þ (Thorn) symbol that looks like the Cult of Thorn, and doubt that it's an intentional connection to Halloween 6 of ALL things, especially since it has a different meaning...

In the movie it's said that the first Blair Witch was a film in universe, and to make it even weirder there was a mockumentary that came out right before Blair Witch 2 that said Blair Witch 2 was an in universe film based on real world events

There there... on the bright side, its a new addition to the Slasherverse. And if we think about it, perhaps the Cult of Thorn had some dealings with the Blair Witch before the events of Blair Witch 2? IDK to be honest, but it's a connection.
Yeah it's definitely an iffy connection, but I'm adding it to the version of the Slasherverse I've been working on
