Re: MK Spiderman - series discussion (spoilers)
I knew that when JMS's turn came, it'd be good.

Then we have Peter David next, and after him, Reginald "Aunt May in an Iron Man suit" Hudlin.icemastertron said:I knew that when JMS's turn came, it'd be good.
Oh, that's right. They're back in their own titles. Well, least MK #23 is Hudlin's last Spidey issue.Doc Comic said:Then we have Peter David next, and after him, Reginald "Aunt May in an Iron Man suit" Hudlin.
So this would be like the usual "JMS on SM" that you don't like?UltimateE said:I didn't think it was good. It was just as sucky as the previous 7.

That's where I think you're wrong. don't see it as it selling to the [readers] that Peter's dead. It's just a greving (sp?) issue. Could we have done w/o it? I'd say so. But alone I think it's good on the point of seeing how it's affecting. I think it should have been more than just mostly MJ and a little of Aunt May, but again, in the terms of seeing how they felt, it was good. Not great, not horrible, just good.UltimateE said:I wouldn't say that...and it's not so much that I didn't like the past stuff he's done on ASM (except Sins Past, which I loved), but it was terribly uninteresting. Sleep-inducing.
This issue of MK Spidey (don't recall the number, just that it's part 8 of the other) was bad because it was an entire issue of people (mostly MJ) dealing with grief in Peter dying, and trying to sell the reader on Peter's death, when it is so disgustingly obvious that he isn't dead. It was just awkward and forced.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? :wink:UltimateE said:Either way, it's been beyond bad up to this point anyway.

After reading the issue I agree with this to a point. I didn't think the issue was awesome, but it was better than the last ones and I think the next one could be quite enjoyable.Doc Comic said:That issue was awesome. I can't wait to see what he looks like and what new powers he'll have.
I agree with ice here, but it did move away from the grieving for the last 3 pages or so.icemastertron said:But alone I think it's good on the point of seeing how it's affecting. Least they're not making up any BS excuses.NRAMA: Mary Jane's amazingly fast recovery from a broken arm? Christmas miracle or did an editor get coal in their stocking for that?
JQ: Not making any excuses, we screwed up and missed it. Axel who's the editor has been hung by meat hooks, had his fingernails pulled and given nothing but a hand me down fruit cake to eat for Christmas.
In all seriousness, I apologize to all the folks out there, we just missed it. With a small staff of editors and about 70 titles a month you can see that the work load is pretty steep for these guys, so stuff like this will happen from time to time, but we're working hard at it.
