Runaways Vol. 2 #1-24 (Brian K. Vaughan/Adrian Alphona) (spoilers)

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

I like Runaways.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

well we do need more black people, and Latinos, all the Asians, the east Indians, the islanders....have any of you ever been to LA?

and to the new poster.....Anya;Welcome.

and i was enjoying the freindly debate, and the job of a sales rep, which in a sense all comic writers, artist, and head hancho's (joe Q). is not to tell the truth but to have YOU guess the truth. Ex: i might say its a wonderful day. you think its sunny, 78 degrees F. with a few clouds. but its really 40 degrees F with hard rain and thunder. i never said WHAT the weather is. only that its a good day. its our job to have you come to your own conclusions. the answer that you come up with is not always going to be the answer that we have to give.

What would be the point of the eventual reveal?

The kid was dead, and is now alive...

I would guess that he looks a little worse for wear, perhaps even partially skeletal.

Perhaps one of the Giant God thingies are wearing his skin and bones, but he's still deteriorating.

The fact is that Alex was one of the reasons I kept reading this title, and the book has been missing its best voice since he turned traitor.

I hope its him, because it should be him.

Who else knows what the Pride is? Who else would go through the trouble of trying to pull everything together so that only he and a few others would survive.

I'm guessing its Alex, or maybe Alex's cousin or brother.

Because if a new pride just started up again off the street, it wouldn't have a grudge against the Runaways. It would just let them burn.

Whoever it is, he needs a connection to the original pride, and there were only two black people in the original pride!

It's not a matter of political correctness, its a matter of what makes sense to the plot.

Keep in mind that people who first picked this up at Runaways vol2 #1 will still get the same "Holy Crap!" when Alex comes back, because they won't have been expecting it. We have the knowledge to put it all together, and we did, good for us.

It'll still be an interesting read.

Umm... wow. O_O
Okay... everyone needs to breathe. Quick, breathe now...

Alright... First off, my post was just stating my own views. My view is that I think it would be a cop-out if the big reveal was just Alex-coming-back alone...

As for the Afro-American popluation in Marvel Universe comment, I just mentioned it because on every other comic boards, when people spot a 'black' character in TR, everyone is squealing that "IT HAS TO BE ALEX! GOD DAMN YOU! IT HAS TO BE ALEX! Ifit'snotAlex,theworldwillbreakintohalfandwe'llallgetfriedbyasolarstorm..." BTW, this is not a race-thing...

Oh, well, that's my piece... and I'm not arguing about whether it's Alex or not anymore because its not like its gonna make any difference in the end. When the issue comes out, there're gonna be people who will go "I TOLD YOU SO!" and there'll be others who will go "Oh, fine... whatever..." BKV will still do whatever he's planning to do whether we stab each to death over the mystery character's identity or not...

You're all wrong. It's not Alex. It's 355 from Y The Last Man.

Nope, sorry. It's actually Luke Cage.

You know people named brian are all about the Cage-action.

Interesting preview of issue 13 over at Buzzscope. The Leapfrog can talk? The Provost? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

i think that MWoF already posted this... and the leapfrog starts talking when Karolina goes away.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

I did post this already... And I don't remember what Molly's reaction was when Karolina left and her last words were through the Leap-Frog's moniters. I don't think the Leap-Frog talks though.

Most interesting is how Molly might still feel about her parents...

Usually BKV has the best issue of the week when he puts one out. This week he falls short and into mediocreness.

Molly gets lost after a battle with a "Dragon Lady" (anyone?). She's found by a man named Provost. He kidnaps kids and threatens to turn them into stone if they don't pull of heists (mostly pick pocketing). Molly and the kidnapped kids rob the same bank the runaways stopped the wrecking crew at. Upon return to Provost in the sewers, one of the girls tells Provost that Molly is planning to betray him. This throws Provost off guard and the girl steals Provost's wand. The kids manage to break the wand and Provost turns to stone releasing the kids that were in stone from the spell. The kids go home and Molly falls asleep at a bus stop that will hopefully take her to the tar pits, where she is unknowingly right infront of.

3/5

Yeah, it was cute. But the art sucked (is this the usual art because I felt like I was watching Jap Anime. And there was nothing to gasp at like BKV usually does with his monthly releases. Maybe we're just spoiled.

On the other hand Molly's whole relationship with the memory of her parents is super interesting and I would love to see it explored.

Yeah.....this was total filler. 3 outta 5.....nothing special.

I really enjoy how Molly is handled each time. She genuine feels like a kid.....and not some overly-smart, holier than thou, great power/responsibilty teenager that Marvel loves to throw at you.

I do agree with MWoF......the art lately just hasn't been cutting it.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

molly isn't a great central character, its her interactions with the other runaways that makes her so unique...

I'd agree with the 3/5

out of the blue

i was re-reading the runways from the start, for the hell of it. and i got to 4? where they have just been attacked for the 1st time by their parents. at the very end on the last panel when Gert gets the phone call and the parents are standing above molly. if you look in the background at the book shelf you noitce 4 books and each of them has a name, Vaughan, Alphona, Newbold, Reber.

just one of those out of the blue type things.

carry on.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

Yeah...I did that like maybe 2 weeks ago. Reread from the beginning. I noticed that too....but I wasn't gonna be the big nerd to post it. :D

On a side note though---I think outta all the arcs so far.....the Victor arc still has to be my favorite.

im not a nerd, i just like werid things.

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

I enjoyed it because Molly is my favourite Runaways characters because she's funny and strong and cool and I am worried that the whole "sleeping" thing is a foreshadowing that she'll die and at least she'll be happy because she'll be asleep forever and that will suck.

:D

Re: Runaways series discussion (spoliers)

They should make a serie just with Molly cause she is so cool... the second cooler runaway is Victor.
She punched Wolverine. She can die with honor.
