Pokemon

What is your problem with it? It's a popular franchise that generates interest each generation of the games just like any other franchise property. :?

I'm not trying to put it down (well maybe a little) or anyone who plays it. But seriously who thought this would survive that long? I would not have seen it coming. I thought I would die years ago

The popularity (in America anyways) has died down a whole lot. To be honest, I'm surprised the cartoon still goes. In Japan, this is still popular as it was when it began, if not more. I mentioned a few pages back that Platinum sold 1 million copies in two days over there.

But I see this game like the FF series. It'll keep going on for a good while to come.

Thought I love Serebii's map, this is what the real Pokemon World looks like:

Hah. I see what you mean now.

While it's died down since it first came out, I know a whole bunch of people, including kids, who play and love it unashamedly.

As video game franchises go, it's only behind Mario in how much it's made. You're going to need a wooden stake, a master Ball, and time travel to kill it for good. And even then you have to kill the zombie.

(Pokemon rocks.)

As do I.

I'm just saying you don't see that Pokemon craze we had a few years ago where it was all people would talk about. Like Furbees before that. That isn't to say that it's not a healthy franchise.

When is Platinum coming to the US anyway?
Ask and you shall receive.

Just mentioned today from Serebii.net:

Overnight, US online retailer Circuit City revealed a tentative release date for Pokémon Platinum as well as a couple of new US details/names. First, the release date is set to be March 22nd, 2009. Please note however, as this is scheduled to change at any time and may not be official. The page also reveals the US names for Pluto, Handsome & The Torn World. They are Charon, Looker, and the Distortion World respectively.

Two questions:

1. My knowledge of the new generation is limited, but is it true that there's a Pokemon that created the Pokemon universe?

If so, that's the greatest thing ever. Mostly because I'm imagining it creating the universe in Genesis style, but instead of saying "Let there be etc." it just says its name.

2. Has anyone here read the Pokemon Adventures manga?

It's based on the games rather then the anime, and is my personal favorite adaptation of Pokemon outside of the games.

There is Arceus.

Arceus, known as the Alpha Pokémon or "The Original One", is the ultimate legendary Pokémon. Arceus premiered with the fourth generation but did not appear (without cheats) in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It has a silver coloured body and has a large, golden wheel around its abdomen, connected by spikes filled with gems. It is said in a book called "The Original Story" that Arceus was born from an egg in a vortex of pure chaos. After it was born, it created two beings from itself, one of time (Dialga), one of space (Palkia), and then three more beings (Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit). The first two created matter and the next three created spirit, while Arceus went to sleep. This story can be found in the Canalave Library, and can also be told from the various plates the player encounters in the story. The story contradicts Mew being the ancestor of all Pokémon. There is also some debate as to whether Giratina, the third counterpart of Dialga and Palkia, was created by Arceus or was simply an offshoot of other existing creations.

Arceus has the Multitype Ability, which allows the player to change Arceus' type to any of the other sixteen types by having it hold various elemental plates found throughout the game. Arceus' signature move, Judgment (Learned at level 100), works hand in hand with the elemental plates. Arceus also has the highest base stat total of any Pokémon to date, which makes it the "strongest" Pokémon of all time. (Its Base Stat Total is 720, with each stat having a value of 120. There are many that beat Arceus in each category individually, but its BST is unmatched.)

I have not read any of the Manga books.

Ash will catch it with the Master Ball in Season 26, Episode 14 but then let it go because he's a dumbass.

Yes. I read up to Gold and Silver using torrents because the US manga stopped at volume 7 (Yellow).

I sort of lost interest in Pokemon at the time, but it was quite good. Much better than the anime.

Anyone else played the Pokemon Ranger games? I played the first one because that's how you would get Manaphy for D/P (without cheats), but it turned out to be a fun game.

So now I'm getting the sequel, "Shadows of Almia". You once again get to have Manaphy, but also Riolu and Darkrai that you can send to D/P/Plt. I was thinking about getting it at first, but when I read you get to keep Darkrai, I was sold.

I've just finish ordering it and should be here before Christmas.
