New Ghostbusters!

They are getting a script to try and lure in the originals, nothing has been remotely signed yet. This wasn't planned by the original cast or anything. It's all the studio's idea at this point.

Huh. In one of the likes I posted http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_popmachine/2008/09/harold-ramis-co.html

Harold Ramis confirms 'Ghostbusters III

"yes, columbia is developing a script for GB3 with my year one writing partners, gene stupnitsky and lee eisenberg. judd apatow is co-producing year one and has made several other films for sony, so of course the studio is hoping to tap into some of the same acting talent. aykroyd, ivan reitman and i are consulting at this point, and according to dan, bill murray is willing to be involved on some level. he did record his dialogue for the new ghostbusters video game, as did danny and i, and ernie hudson. the concept is that the old ghostbusters would appear in the film in some mentor capacity. not much else to say at this point. everyone is confident a decent script can be written and i guess we'll take it from there.
best,
harold

 My bad

Really? Tell her to thank him for The Ice harvest and tell him to work with John Cusack more often.

She isn't in any way related to the kid who you supposedly know who played Robin in The Dark Knight, whose scenes were deleted, is she?

That was several people removed, and I have pretty much decided that he had a bit part that got cut, and the several people in between decided that a teenager in a Batman movie simply must have been playing Robin.

My Aunt just straight up works for Harold Ramis.

Update

Over the past year there has been a raft of gossip involving a possible third Ghostbusters film, with the pick of the chatter being that comedy supremo Judd Apatow would be involved, along with regular collaborator Seth Rogen.

Columbia head honcho Doug Belgrad has scotched the rumour today however, telling the LA Times: "It's not true... "We have some great new writers working on a new script, but Judd isn't involved."

Those writers are Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg - who both worked on The American Office - as well as most of the original films' creative team as script consultants.

Belgrad did reiterate the studio's commitment to the project however, saying: "Judging from the frenzy on the Internet, there still seems to be plenty of interest in the idea of doing another film, so we're certainly taking that as a good sign."

All of which is very interesting, but still leaves us largely in the dark about the direction of the new project, and whether original stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson will be involved, or if they'll make way for a new team of younger Ghostbusters.

Update.

If Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson are not involved I'll only wait for the dvd maybe if not at all. American office writers + the originals not back = not interested as that's NOT ghostbusters.

Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson returning = Cinema watch and :shock::shock::shock: woo hoo moment.

The writers sound fine as I think the American Office is brilliant and they were also involved with the original movie.

I just wonder why Harold Ramis(who's also involved with the American Office) or Ivan Reitman haven't been tipped to just direct the film again.

All of them, including Murray, are involved. Right from Aykroyd's mouth.

Can't stand The American version of the office. Never laughed once at it.

Original was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Not those guys.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1072409/ = Lee Eisenberg

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1969144/ = Gene Stupnitsky

Gene = When ghostbusters was out he was 7

Lee = i'm guessing is not far off either.

nop where does it say those two were involved with the original movie. Unless you count been a 7 year old kid and watching it.

Good I hope so. Though it should be written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis too IMO as they wrote the original.
