Marvel: Your Universe Thread

Those Marvel Swimsuit Specials were the most pathetic piece of wankery ever invented. Stuff like that is why people make fun of comic book readers.

Anyone who ever bought or read those is a pathetic loser.

Though it does explain a lot about certain characters. For instance, Namor is always pissed off because his "Royal Scepter" can be fully covered by one tiny seashell.

Marvel's hot new character...Hitman Monkey

From Marvel.com
"Hitman Monkey is a soulful, tortured, jazz-loving 30-pound engine of destruction," explains Executive Editor Axel Alonso. "Think Chow Yun Fat from 'The Killer' as a monkey. To be specific, [a Japanese Macaque] monkey."

:-| ...I have nothing more to say.

Hitman Monkey?

Hitman Monkey!

HITMAN MONKEY!

Holy ****. What the **** is wrong with these people?

So they're ripping off Detective Chimp 3 years after he was cool?

Sounds like a terrible spin-off book featuring a monkey from Red Ghost's crew.

Guys...I seriously think he is based off an Internet meme from a while back.

Anyone remember this?

Marvel Announces "Marvel's Greatest Comics"

Marvel Comics has announced "Marvel's Greatest Comics," a new imprint dedicated to spotlighting various Marvel series with specially priced $1 issues. The first title, "Invinicible Iron Man" #1, will be sent to retailers for free.

I think this is a bad idea. Reading issue #1 of a series thats 20-50 issues deep doesn't seem like a selling point to me. It seems like something that I'd look at on the shelf and think "that'll end up on the floor soon.". What they should do is make First issues for new creative teams of for launched of books $1. Or make V1 of trades $9.99. Go for introductory prices on, ya know, the introducion. Like Fables V1 was cheaper than V2 but 1 had more issues. This just seems like a waste of time to me.

I don't know...if you are introducing these books to a new audience...what is the difference between this and when they first published the first issue initially? You have to start somewhere.

I do agree with cheaper trades. They can take reprint them on cheaper paper or whatever.

Weren't they already doing this with that anthology-type book that they had going?

the first issue had XML's first issue, IIF's first issue, Nova's, Ms. Marvels, and something else I can't remember.

the difference is that when they were new you could buy the number one and keep going with the story from there... If I'm a new reader and go out and buy Iron Man #1 next week for a dollar I now have issues 2 through 22 to buy at 3 or 4 bucks a pop, whatever they are... I might enjoy my issue 1 but I will pass on trying to get caught up... If that's how I feel about Iron Man how will I feel about Captain America... or Punisher MAX... talk about a run. The trade thing would make a LOT more sense.

I thought they were implying that it would be a cylce, first they'll release the number 1's of the books listed, then the next month the number 2's
