Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline (Part 2)

As someone who has Moon Knight in 2025, I think the Disney+ placement of She-Hulk is fairly accurate. I have Moon Knight ending around May 16th (based on the wiki) and with the show in between it and Ms. Marvel, I think its Summer 2025 placement lines up well. Also, it was filmed from April to August so it all works perfectly.

What were the main reasons for putting Love and Thunder in 2024 instead of 2025?
Aside from the aforementioned Gods being not present in MK, the timeframe we are given of 8 years, 7 months, 6 days has to line up somewhere. We know that Thor was off world by the time Civil War happened in 2016, so their breakup had to happen between Ultron and Civil War. So subtracting the 8 years from where we have it in May of 2025 puts their breakup in September of 2016...which is after Thor is supposedly off world out looking for the stones. May of 2024 puts their breakup in September 2015, which is between Ultron and Civil War. There is also the age of Groot in the opening, which was debated here recently. He looks exactly the same as he did in Endgame...which infers at least the opening is around the time of Endgame. People on here have claimed his voice is different. 18 months after Endgame and all that changed was his voice? I don't know. We don't have confirmation on that so that one is up to you.

2024 makes more sense to me given what is present in the film.

Yeah I agree that she-hulk is summer 2025.

I still don't buy Thor and Jane definitely breaking up before Civil War. Love and Thunder shows that Thor was adventuring while they were still together. Even Age of Ultron shows this and we know they are definitely still together during Age of Ultron. I think he was probably gone for large periods of time towards the end of their relationship so saying Thor was "off-planet" during Civil War would still make sense.

Yeah, as long as it's between Age of Ultron and Ragnarok, I think there's wiggle room. Especially since even, a May 2024 placement shows that the breakup would have to at the very least be some months after Age of Ultron. I see it as Thor was off-world during the events of Civil War, returned sometime after where he received the note from Jane and didn't stay long enough to know about everything that had gone down with the remaining Avengers (I doubt he always checked in between his visits). And never returned to Earth again until Ragnarok.

Ok well, I don't want this to come off rude so I apologize if it does, but we put the placements to a vote, and the majority went to both being 2024. If you want your own personal guide to have them in 2025, by all means. Lord knows I have a couple things in different places in Phase 2 specifically. The vagueness of both Thor LAT and MK caused a lot of tiffing on here and unless something comes along that re-places them, which is entirely possible, let's just leave it be for now. I feel like I've been having the same conversation on here for a month already.

♂️ Sorry for not reading the rest of the forum, I guess. I just wanted further clarification from some people.

Is there anything specifically that wouldn't allow Thor to be in 2025?

I think future projects, especially the Guardians stuff, will help us place Love and Thunder. So not too long for a more definitive answer, hopefully.

Alright so Werewolf By Night is coming this week, I'm very excited for this project. He's one of the obscure characters I had comics of as a kid that I never thought I'd see in the MCU, much less as the focus of his own special.

What are your theories for when this project takes place based on purely your opinion? Does it take place in the present day of the MCU around 2023-25? Does anyone think it might be set around the 1930-50s like the films where it takes its inspiration from? What are all your guesses before the premiere?

My immediate guess is a 31st October 2025 setting to coincide with the Halloween theme but in like a pocket dimension or another universe (I don't think it will be set in the 1930s because of the black and white films they are trying to reference, because they already tried that trick with Wandavision and that ended up in November 2023

That's interesting, why do you think it'll be set in a pocket dimension?

I have my own theory on that...
Considering that the trailer showed what looked to be TVA agents being massacred by Werewolf by Night, I'm betting that the events of the Special will initially take place in a universe that was meant to be pruned by the TVA (hence their appearance), before eventually moving into the mainstream MCU universe (IE: MCU-616) by the end of the Special. And given that Man-Thing was already shown in the trailer, well...

It's been confirmed by those who have seen the special that those actually aren't TVA agents.

Plz we voted so that we wouldn't have Back and forth arguments about this anymore

Finally watched Thor 4 this weekend. Hard to make a final call about what year. Although it definitely feels like he's been with the Guardians for 6 months, rather than a year and a half.

I'm confident that one or both of the upcoming Guardians projects will nail it down.

One other thing that I think might push me closer to 2024 is the fact that they will likely recast Love as a teenager/young adult if she's to reappear alongside Thor when he inevitably shows up in Kang Dynasty/Secret War. So the more time she has to age, the better.

So I found this article.

In it they discuss when the Werewolf By y Night special takes place. These are the quotes of note:

io9: "And we don't even know when this night is. It could have been in the 1940s. It could have been in the future. We don't really know."

Giacchino: "That's the great thing. In my mind, it is happening somewhere within the MCU but we purposely never say when, why, how, all of that, because to me, it was just about these characters. Let's worry about these people for tonight and see what happens."

So seems like there's not going to be anything particularly useful to pinpoint the time placement. It'll probably be down to Disney+ or some obscure hints and details.

Stuckmann did a review on it already and even he didn't give any clarification. I honestly think this one will be whatever everyone feels is best until ANY of the characters reappear.
