The Timeline Guy
I do agree with Mole. While wyo may not be impressed with it, I liked DoFP's Quicksilver scenes.
I also agree with wyo that Flash has probably explored the super speed angle the best, but it really kind of should.
I still really enjoyed both AoU and DoFP.
I guess I'm just really tired of the dismissive attitude and negativity.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I just wish the criticism were more constructive.
It's easy to complain they didn't "do enough" with a character that's playing little more than a supporting role. Ultimately I think it's a bit unfair and harsh, but that's only my opinion.
That said, I enjoyed DoFP's Quicksilver. I enjoyed AoU's Quicksilver. Would it have been nice to see them do more? Sure. But pragmatically speaking, I think their smaller supporting roles in those two films still afforded the opportunity for some fun super speed scenes. Maybe not terribly revolutionary, but still a lot of fun.
That said, Flash does it best, no question. But it is a series built entirely around the super speed powered hero, with 23 episodes per season (well over 30 in), so to be fair they've had somewhere around 10 times more screen time to explore that one main character versus the 20-30 minutes of a film featuring or focused on Pietro/Wanda.
It is what it is.
Well, because it's just boring and uninspired. You yourself said The Flash does it the best and that's because they portray it in a variety of ways and do interesting and visually exciting things using CGI with Barry's speed.
I mean, you'd bore modern audiences to tears, at least regarding a super speed character, by relying only on "blurs". Think about it. I'm not saying they can't do that some, but they need to go beyond just that.
It's nothing to do with the audience's intelligence level, and everything to do with the audience's interest level. Audiences all across the intelligence spectrum would quickly become bored with the blur technique.

Why? Just make a blur and then have whatever he did happen. Is the audience so stupid they won't get that he used his speed?
