Yeah with the first appearance of the Lizard. he was in the sewers or soemthing and healed Lizard I think.

If I'm not mistaken, Man-Thing was also in Peter's Nightmare in USM #71. He's on the top right of the page where all the bad guys are after him and their eyes are flashing.

I think what Immonen was trying to do was play with the different phases of what the UFF could've turned into. Why Man-Thing was the way the plant one was drawn is beyond me, but he seems to have struck a chord with a lot of fans, you know? Or, rather Ellis did that... Looking at the N-Zone arc now, I don't see how the phase thing could be answered...
