Lost *spoilers*

E, do you have a favorite character?

It's John Locke, by far.

Also, the music is good as DJF has pointed out. I like the use of pop music in the series (as opposed to the orchestral soundtrack) and have dug up a couple songs that I heard on it - "These Arms of Mine" by Otis Redding which has so much soul it sounds like it will make your speakers explode, and "Slowly" by Ann-Margret which is darn sexy.

I'm interested to see your opinion on how his character is approached/used in the (last half of) the 5th season and the entire 6th season.

Otis Redding is awesome.

The scene they use "Slowly" in is darn sexy, as well.

I'm forgetting which part "These Arms of Mine" was used in. Was it the Rose and Bernard episode?

That sounds right. It was at the end of the episode and it played while we saw everyone around camp at their tents/beds/campfires

WOW.

Someone somewhere (I don't think it was hear and don't care to go back through the thread to find out) said that Lost wasn't as good in the 3rd season - they couldn't be more wrong.

Tonight we watched about 5-6 episodes...the first three were some of the best so far: Claire meeting her (and Jack's!) real dad, finding out how Locke ended up in the wheelchair (!!!!!) - and seeing that Ben had his dad brought to the island (!!!!!!) (and I still don't know what came of that yet so please don't spoil me - all I know so far is that Locke seemingly left with the others when they let Kate, Sayid, & Jack go and had Juliet be a mole), and Nikki/Paolo being buried alive. All 3 were awesome.

We left off with season 3, episode 17, where Desmond takes Charlie, Hurley, & Jin into the jungle to rescue the parachuter he thought might be Penny and it wasn't.

I'm hoping we have season 3 wrapped up Monday night and into season 4.

yeah, a lot of people didn't like the the buried alive episode (Exposé) b/c they didn't like Nicky and Paolo. And admittedly, they were pointless characters that were created as filler when the creators of the show weren't sure how much longer the show was going to run. They serve no purpose as far as advancing the story.

I'm with you though, I thought Exposé was pretty cool.

The other episode that people tend to dislike is "Stranger In a Strange Land" (episode 9 in which we learn the origins of Jack's tats). Again for the same reason, it's sort of a pointless episode.

and seeing that Ben had [Locke's] dad brought to the island (!!!!!!) (and I still don't know what came of that yet so please don't spoil me
oh, just you wait.

I've said this before, the only downside in Season 3 is almost nothing when watching on dvd. Cause the first six episodes all were flashbacks to stories no one really cared about and at this time Lost went on a winter break after the first six, so waiting for each episode these seemed lame compared to previous seasons. Even they were set up in season 2, when Kate mentioned being married, when Jack said he got his tattoos in Thailand. They just weren't interesting. But again DVD solves that problem.

And I've always said Season starts low but ends high. E, prepare yourself for much more.

Yeah.

Wow.

Last night we saw the episode where Locke got Sawyer to kill his dad. Amazing. We watched up through where Ben shoots Locke after taking him to see Jacob. Also, Juliet has taken Sun to get an ultrasound and left the taped note for Ben, which Locke took back to camp. The helicopter parachute lady (can't remember her name) revealed that she is from a freighter 80 miles away - I accidently caught a spoiler a while back saying that more people come to the island from a freighter but I don't know anything more than that. I assume that's what this is.

I was telling a friend about this yesterday, that it's so rare anymore that you get to see a movie or show where something happens so surprising that it makes you gasp, but Lost is full of them.

BKV co-writing, *****es!

I didn't see that he was a co-writer but I did catch his name as an executive producer, I believe. Awesome.

I think that was me. After having re-watched the entire series, I've changed my opinion and honestly think I might've unfairly and inexplicably pushed some of my negative reaction to Season 4 onto Season 3. Season 4 is kind of weak in comparison to other seasons, but still decent enough.

That was another high point of Season 3.
When they change the approach to the flashbacks in the season finale and duped us with it for the entirety of the episode until the end.
I still get goosebumps and a fan-boner everytime I see that episode and think back to just how amazingly well the producers of the show pulled the wool over our collective eyes (online spoilers not withstanding). It also marks an important step in the evolution of the show in general, and the ushering of the second half of the story.

Indeed. The little mini-sode they did (from the Lost - Missing Pieces webisodes...don't worry E, they're on the Season 4 DVDs) that he wrote called "King of the Castle",
with Jack and Ben playing chess in Otherville and subtley discussing their respective roles as leaders.
Its surprisingly powerful for a 2 minute short, especially within the context of the larger story of Season 3 and Season 4-5.

Just wait until the Season 3 finale.

I'm sorry, brotha, but I can't help but admit I want to do some very nasty things to your sista...in anotha life.

Or this one too.

Your one spoiler tag is off. And E for the love of god DO NOT hit quote and see what DIB put in spoilers.

I avoided it - thanks. We watched the season 3 finale last night.

It was sad and amazing and one of my favorites.

Charlie's stupidity was driving me nuts but when he died I was really bummed.

And Jack's flash forward was awesome.

Actually we also watched the first 2 episodes of season 4 and saw a Hurley flash forward as well.

Also, I'm bummed because I accidently saw a spoiler that an upcoming episode is about Michael. I knew from seeing a clip that Walt appears in season 5 or 6 but I didn't want to know that Michael is back. That would've been a great surprise.

I have got to stop reading about this show.

I agree with every part of that sentence.

And it was a great death scene.

I wish Netflix still had the series to stream because I'd like to rewatch some of the episodes. I read that ABC removed streaming capability so that people would buy the new DVD/Blu-Ray box set. Maybe it will come back after Christmas. Actually season 5 is still available - not sure why.

Another thing I loved - how Locke credited his lack of a kidney as the reason he didn't die when Ben shot him. Amazing.
