And in regards of the monster. If the question "what has the monster been doing?" is a part of "what is the monster?" then I would agree with you. I don't so much care what it is... Ok, it's a black smoke thing that seems to attack people. What I want to know is why it is so particular with certain people and why it's so particular about where it is and who can make it go where. I can't see the writers explaining what it is unless it does come down to that he is a character, like Jacob's nemesis. I mean, I don't think they could really sell the whole "it's a bunch of nano-bots DHARMA came up with to track people and scare them after going through their memories and reminding the person it is antagonizing of the bad ones". We know that's not it, but you guys know what I mean.
Michael Emerson is probably right. Certain things won't be addressed, but that's not going to be a bad thing. What Cuse and Lindelof have stressed, and this is good, is that it is an on-going show and that it needs to arrive somewhere. If they try to answer this little thing or that plot hole, they'll trip over their own toes and end up noting giving a solid ending.
 I've honestly had too much time at work to be thinking about Lost over the summer. The fact that this show is almost over is beginning to become a reality for me. It's like waiting for that seventh Harry Potter book!
