What if you are going to adapt, why not do it as faithfully as possible?

This is exactly like making Spider-Man movie, set in Berlin instead of NYC and saying the story is the same.

I wouldn't mind Germany doing that, if it was an American film than I'd say wtf.
 
I'll have to agree with Skotti-chan - they should set the movie in Japan and use Asian actors. Is it superficial? Sure. But its still part of the original story, thus it should be like that in the adaption.

Now, it might still be good, so it might not make much of a difference. But I still believe an adaption should as closely follow the original source material as possible.
