Kick-Ass movie discussion (Spoilers!)

Re: Kick-*** The Movie (news discussion)

So you're going to be footing the hosting and licensing bills? Awesome!

These ads pay for the site, people. So stop *****ing about them. My biggest pet peeve is people who ***** about unobtrusive ads. Nothing is free.

And they aren't just there to look pretty. Hint hint.

Fine, fine, Fine...

But can we at least move it. I hate that I have to wait 'til someone replies with a quote to see a picture or a video cause that stupid ad is covering half of it up.

Re: Kick-*** The Movie (news discussion)

The guys who work at my LCS got an advance screening a few weeks ago. Said it was really great and Hitgirl made the movie

Re: Kick-*** The Movie (news discussion)

She does. Her intro scene (actually as Hit-Girl) is fantastic. She manages to pull off the ultraviolent assassin role, with an almost creepy child's innocence.

Re: Kick-*** The Movie (news discussion)

Everyone's going to see Hit-Girl as the big draw of this movie, but seriously guys. Big Daddy. Nic Cage.

The scene where DeMico is watching BD trashing up the warehouse and then setting fire to it is something really, really beautiful. Obviously it's a really good martial arts and gunplay scene, but beyond that, it's a scene where we get to see one of the world's biggest, most obsessive, most desperate fanboys finally get to become a superhero. All those years of Nic Cage trying to be Superman in Tim Burton's frighteningly awful films, him playing Ghost Rider in a forgettably mediocre film and him naming his kid 'Kal-El' has paid off. The scene was pure awesome and he was great in it.

I loved the movie, and believe me, I really wanted to hate it. Aaron Johnson wasn't the best actor and some of the themes of empowerment were rushed, plus there were parts (particularly in the first act) where I felt that the film was talking down at comics and comic book geeks, when it should have been celebrating them. Luckily, this all changed after about twenty minutes and the film became great.

I'd definitely rank it up as being one of the best superhero films, ever.

One of the best parts of the film were his friends.
So damn funny. Seriously I was crying laughing when you see the two of them watching Hit Girl saving Big Daddy and Kick-Ass on the web
"I think I'm in love"
"Dude, I think she's like, 11."
"I solemnly swear to save myself for her."

So there's this site called www.iwillkickass.com, and on it you can upload a picture of yourself and become a superhero. I tried to do it and it wouldn't let me complete the process. Could somebody help me out?

I love Adam West. And the part where Nic Cage just spits out Alfred's full name is pure awesome.

Re: Kick-*** The Movie (news discussion)

This was GREAT.

I think Hit-Girl's performance was probably the best in the film, but yes.... Cage. He's been on a hot streak lately with Bad Lieutenant and now this. Awesome.

There were a few minor, stylistic things I would've changed. Mainly the use of more striking music at times(
when Kick-Ass rose in front of the window with the jet-pack, I could've SWORN they were playing the intro to ABBA's "Fernando". I maintain this would've been better
).

Still, just excellent. I had a pretty good theater experience with a lot of people clapping here and there, but I hope for an even better one next because due to scheduling I happen to be secretly seeing it again with at least one other group of people this weekend.

The fact that the movie played like a clip reel of places I've been hanging out since my early teens(it was filmed in Toronto. The Dip 'n' Sip is a real place about a block away from my high school) just added to the experience. In fact, it's pretty disappointing that they didn't do a casting call here. (Englishman) Aaron Johnson was good most of the time, but.... yeah. Sigh.

9.5/10.
