Justice League Unlimited

I always why other cartoons arent picking themselves up to JLU strandards? Hell the timmserve has continually raised the bar for 14 years. Can't Marvel get the damn picture?
No.

But to be honest? I think American cartoons are on a downhill. They'll turn around again eventually, but for now, the answer is no.

And it's not a cultural bias thing. The Japanese actually had a major anime slump in terms of technical quality and critical appraisal in the mid to late 90s.

Couldn't agree more, I sadly remember cartoons and anime in their dark times (80's and 90's respectively).

But didn't D.C stop making JLU and instead made Legion of Super Heroes that's so bad even the bad marvel cartoons beat it?

So shouldn't DC get the Damn picture and bring JLU back?

I think The Batman has even become a watchable show. But it seems that with every DC property out there the only solution is to put the JLA in their shows. Smallville had the make-shift JLA and now the Batman has Martian Manhunter, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Hawkman and Green Lantern in it. Everyone at DC's trying to match Timm's JLA success by putting in their own JLA.

Love the batman. My only complaint with The Batman is the Joker is just very very very very crap. IMO he's as bad if not worse than M.J goblin! (I say worse beacuse he's in more scenes so it makes it worse)

To it's credit......it has. At first I was merely a passing fan due to the smooth animation. There were a few things that irked me....like Penguin doing kung-fu. But I can look past it.

I belive it's getting better because it's been able to build off the foundation it created. It's able to go back and reference old stories and characters. So yeah...it's getting better. But still no where near the greatness that Timm created.

BTW---I saw Martian and the JLA....but when was Superman on it?

Also....might I add that I cannot watch JLU's "Grudge Match" episode enough!!!!

I mentioned that in the Greatest Fights thread. It's awesome.

Indeed.

I know I still get goosebumps every time I see Superman give Darkseid that great punch and everything goes silent and slo-mo. But personally.....it's not better than Captain Marvel Vs. Superman.

And I dare anyone to find a more awesome moment in the show than when Flash takes out Lex/Brainiac by running around the world and tapping into the Speed Force. I dare you.

I get what they were trying to do with Grodd, I just don't like it. As smart as he's supposed to be, he's still a beast. He still kills people and eats them. He should sound like a monster. I think I'd like the way it sounded to have him with this really deep, growly voice speaking calmly, cooly and intelligently on the same level as Lex.

You mean like the voice Grodd has in Justice League heroes?

I don't know that game at all, so I can't say.

See this is why we have the internet:

JLH Grodd sounded a bit more like a beast than JLU Grodd, but I do like the fact that JLU Grodd sounded very slick, to counteract his beastly appearance, like Beast in every adaption of X-Men in media history. JLH grodd didn't sound cunning.

Yeha, I like that better. I'd make him sound even more monstrous though.

Top five fights in JLU history:

1. Flash vs. Luthor/Braniac

2. JLA (Original 7) vs. Secret Society (Grodd, Giganta, Clayface, Shade, Killer Frost, Sinestro, Parasite)

3. Grudge Match

4. Superman, Batman, Luthor vs. Darkseid

5. Superman vs. Captain Marvel

I'm on a Timmverse high right now. I was originally watching JLU season 2.....but I've now gone back and am watching Season 1.

After that I'm going old school and watching Batman.

I've had the first season of Batman on DVD for a while now and I have to say some of them are a bit of a slog to get through. Especially after coming off JLU much, much faster pace. I mean, they have so many two part episodes that would have been condensed in more modern cartoons.

Best moment of the show, was Batman dodging the Omega Beams.

Batman was just the highlight of almost every show he was in. It's like they said "Screw that Dark Knight Detective **** we've been pushing for the past decade.....we want the ******* Batman!"

I was just watching the Dark Heart episode and there was the part where the Batwing got destroyed and as Bats was falling to the Earth, he gets on the commlink and says "Batman to all points--I could use some air support. Since I can't fly. At all."

It still cracks me up to this day. Warren Ellis is a genius.

Still doesn't top Speed Force.

I liked the commentary for the pig episode. Batman takes two pennies from his utility belt to give to Charon.

The guys on the commentary, Timm and McDuffie and Dini and someoen else maybe? are like:

"Crazy Batman, keeping two pennies in his utility belt."

Batman impersonation: "You never know when you'll have to cross the river Styx."

It was hilarious.
