Justice League Unlimited

Another title in the series, Levitz continued, will be Superman/Doomsday, which will take the "essence" of the Superman/Doomsday story - and will be directed by Bruce Timm and written by Duane Capizzi, who's currently working on The Batman animated series.

So I just finished my Batman Beyond Season2 set last week and I've been watching my JLU DVD all this week.

Lemme just say this....

I'll cut a huge smiley face in the gut of anyone who doesn't think this is the greatest superhero cartoon ever. Seriously.

I finished the time travel episode last night. The one where they went back in time to the Wild West and teamed up with Jonah Hex. JONAH ****ING HEX!!!!

This show is pure greatness and I will not stop squealing giddily about it.

TIMMVERSE like WHUT!!!!

My absolute favorite thing about this series is the writers' (and voice actors') abilities to give disticint (if somewhat caricatured) personalities to even the most insignificant characters (e.g. Shining Knight, Vigilante), using just a few well-timed lines. No guest star ever feels superfluous. They all have a unique role to play in building the overall mythology of the series.

Often, I wish the Ultimate books would take their cue from the characterization on this show, especially during the mini-series/cross-overs that feature an ensemble cast of representatives from each title.

Shining Knight, played by Chris Cox: "I can see now why they call him "Dirty". He besmirches his honor by breaking the rules."

Vigilante, played by Nathan Fillon: "Lissen, if you wanna keep coming over to my place to watch the movies on the big screen with the 5.1 hi-def surround sound, you'd better have a care for what you say about Mr. Eastwood."

:D
Vigilante is definantly one of my favorite characters on that show. Actually, I remember reading somewhere that Vig. and Shining Knight were the animaters' favorites too so they always tried to work them into the background.

I think I was watching JLU one day and my mum came into the room, and asked why a cowboy was part of the Justice League.

I told her, "Because he can."

I'm going through the second season of Justice League on DVD now, and I will fight anyone who says that "Only A Dream" pts 1 & 2 have the most darkly cool endings of any episodes ever.

The next one I have to watch is my All-Time favourite episode of JL... "A Better World". Anyone agree?

Meh.

Justice League was pretty mediocre until it became Unlimited. It kind of reminds me of the "Batman & Robin Adventures" season of Batman: The Animated Series --- not too bad, but a little lightweight compared to B:TAS before it. So put it backwards and it's like JL was rather lightweight until JLU after.

If you want to talk "darkly cool endings of any episode" ever in the DCAU, then it's easily beat by "Feat of Clay" from Batman: The Animated Series.

Agreed. As much as I liked JL....it just didn't have the same "umph" that JLU had.

YES! I just pre-purchased JLU Season 2 on DVD...it'll be shipped express to me on opening day.

I am happy.

I've been watching the Timm cartoons a lot lately and I am also disturbed by the growing fascination I have for Giganta.

Natalie Portman beating me up, Jane Seymore, Giganta.....what is wrong with me?
