House of M series discussion (spoilers)

The card insert bugged me - I hate inserts.

Decent issue...I still think Layla is some sort of version of Xavier. I can't see Xavier letting himself die like that. And Layla's powers are similar to Xavier's. Either way, I really don't think it's Franklin Richards. Marvel has to know what a mistake it would be to go there again.

I wonder how much of a wild card Hawkeye is in this whole thing...

He kind of ran off, like he didn't want the truth before Layla could show him like she did the other heroes.

He basically still is mad about the truth about him. Still in denial and all that. When he leaves, The Pulse #10 picks it up from there. You can SO tell if you read Pulse #10. Which I thought now, after reading both, ties in perfectly.

Without being repetitive and pointing out everything that was pointed out already. I'd have to say that I am still very very pleased with this mini. I loved all of it. Most of it was just reminding but it was all done very well... and the ending was an eye opener for sure but before I react fully I want to know how's and why's and what if's.... Next stop Genosha.

Okay, who else thinks the little girl is going to turn out to be Franklin Richards in the wrong body because he was never born in the House of M world...

She seems awfully powerful, and she did sort of come out of Nowhere.

I loved the scene with Peter and Logan.

I loved the bit with Logan and Mystique, and can't help but hope that post house of m they'll stay together...

And if Cap realizes that reality has changed, is he really still just the old guy?

And is the last page indicative of the Major Change to the post- HoM world?

Franklin got mentioned in HoM#1, as being an orphan whose parents were astronauts. So it's not Franklin. I don't think Layla is a *person* I think she is a representation of someone's powers. AWFULLY convenient, they way she "found" the Human Resistance.

Pretty sure Layla changes Cap, even though Emma and Wolverine dismiss "old" Cap as useless. Her eyes glow green, just as every other time she changed someone. Cap's gotta be there for the final scene.

And, answering later questions, Hawkeye does get his memories back. He mouthes off to Emma about "mutants" and my read is that a ticked-off Emma had Layla update his memories and that's what the panel of him with his head turned is about. Odd scheduling that put Pulse #10 out before HoM #5, which meant we already knew what happened in that bit of scene. Not a huge spoiler, but strange anyway.

Also note that this issue pretty much takes place AFTER the Spider-Man, FF, and Iron Man tie-ins. (But what happens to Hank Pym?) I thought that was kind of strange.

I don't know where this takes place as opposed to the FF tie-in we're gonna have to wait till that mini is over.

I assume it's after, because I am pretty sure the "resistance" is going to strike during the party, hence the end of the series. I remember Bendis! saying in an interview that
Scarlet Witch shows up in #6, and that #8 is an "aftermath" issue, so that only leaves #7 for the "fight."

What I don't understand now is why the last two issue of HoM got pushed out to monthly if they weren't waiting on the tie-ins to finish first. Guess that comes under the heading of "dread scheduling demons" - heck the Wolverine House of M tie-in issues don't even start until September sometime. Gah, what a scheduling headache.

Am I the only one that thinks Xavier is still alive?

Emma did mentally call out to him and it showed him in tears with three shadowy figures behind him (maybe Mags, Lorna, and Pietro) Does anyone remember that? The further this mini progresses the more it hints that Xavier is responsible for it which I hope to be untrue. Sure it would be a good twist, but it is against all that he stands for (mutant and human equality). Let's hope he was forced into doing such an act.

I still don't know what is going on with Layla. She doesn't seem to be a mutant or human. Maybe Xavier made Wanda create Layla as the HoM's achillese heel. Hopefully she'll just cease to exist after this mess. 8)

Xavier is obviously being held against his will somehow. It wasn't just tears we saw him in. It was panic. He really doesn't have to be alive in this universe but Emma since being "awoken to the truth" probably now has a good telepathic connection to her associate. Because they're both alive just on different plains and Emma is supposed to be a powerful telepath.

Layla could just be another mutant whose powers were unlocked when Wanda shifted reality. I mean there are other ways that mutants have had their powers come to them so there's nothing wrong with this explaination. I just think she's her own person and her powers will be explained better in future issues.

What about Jean Grey? Is she getting any love here? I mean you'd think she'd come back along side either Scott or Logan.

I don't think Layla is a mutant though. Emma talking about how Layla is a conundrum and Rogue saying she isn't human. Who knows?

I think and hope that Jean Grey will get mentioned in the Uncanny X-men tie-in (she is the reason why Rachel and Betsy are pulled into the White Hot Room). If she isn't it'll be pretty lame especially after what happened with Endsong (how she became one with the Phoenix again and ascended to the White Hot Room to protect life). That would mean she would just be sitting back and chilling while the multiverse gets screwed over...

I think it would have made more sense if Endsong followed HoM because then they could have said that the Phoenix Force was in pieces from the Wanda's reality warp.

Marvel should have just seperated Jean from the Phoenix Force with Endsong. The Phoenix just complicates stuff.

Jean is unaffected, she wasn't on the planet when Scarlet Witch went wacko on everyone.

Well according to what's going on in Uncanny X-men, this sudden and massive reality warp has caused a trans-temporal tsunami. It threatens the entire multiverse if not contained. So it effects everything and I'm surprised the Phoenix hasn't shown up yet.
