Harry Potter Discussion (spoilers)

She should be lucky they even let a black person on the set.

That horrible joke aside, I hate it when they break continuity, your telling me there's not one black actress who can do the part?

I'm telling you they had an audition, and decided Jessie Cave was the best one for the part and had the best chemistry with Rupert Grint out of everyone who showed up.

Professional filmaking. Not racist conspiracy.

And it shouldn't count as continuity if the only reason it's an issue is the end credit. They never refer to her as Lavender in in POA. They never refer to her at all. I don't know why this is such a huge deal. If the POA cameo had been played by a girl with blue eyes and blonde hair, and the new actress had green eyes and brown hair, would it be an issue? I doubt it.

Again, agreed with you here.

I'm just busting your chops. I've never seen the movie of read any of the books so i don't know the details. If her role had nothing that definitely shows her as the character in the new one, than I don't care.

You owe me big for this. I'm talking Planet-man-saves-all-of-Ultimate-Central-from-Basszarro-at-the-end-of-UC:TF2 big.

razzle frazzle

(although more critics liked it than didn't)

More critics thought it was enjoyable than terrible. You'd be hard pressed to find a critic who puts it on their top ten movies of the year.

But that's a discussion for another thread.

To be fair, due to lack of money and most of my friends Universiting in other cities, I haven't been able to see some of the more acclaimed films(3:10 to Yuma, Ratatouille, etc) this year.

Nothing will stop me from seeing No Country For Old Men though.

Not to mention that a certain other aspiring critic has The Simpsons Movie in their top-3.:p

This is mostly because I wait to see 99% of all art-house/Oscar bait films until they're on DVD; pretty soon, they'll be crowding the Top 10 (probably).

Oh and, I still believe you Planet-man, but, I asked a bunch of my friends last night what race they thought Lavender was, and they were all sure that in the first book Rowling mentioned her being Black. I'll go back to look at it, but I'm sure you're the expert. :D

That's pretty weird if it's true. I've had a very vivid picture of her as being a white girl with straight brown hair in a ponytail since her first mention.

Speaking of the race-casting issue, I think if anything it would be because they want to be EXTRA sensitive towards black people here. Ginny's going to be dumping Dean for Harry, remember? Two white kids dumping their black partners in the same hour might rub people(not me) the wrong way.

But, I still think the casting occured for the reasons I said earlier, and not this.

She's white with Brown Hair according the HP Lexicon article about her

The Wiki has no description of her.

And there is no description in the first book other than she is a female

Not posting this to be an arse or to start anything I just found it funny BUT I admit this wrong but still funny
