Re: JJ Abrams' "Cloverfield"
You see quite a lot of the monster, which surprised me. I thought it would be completely hidden.
Among other things... there's a manga tie-in being released that seems to show the origin of the monster and/or ties in the viral marketing stuff to the movie.
Also, in the last scene, you supposedly see something crash land into the water in the background... some have speculated it's the monster, but Abrams has said it's been here for thousands of years... so it is presumed to be a satellite belonging to this big company that is part of the viral stuff.
And finally, after the credits, there's a short clip that sounds like someone saying "Help us." Someone reversed it, and it's actually "It's still alive..." Sequel, anyone?

Dunno, move the monster to another city. Maybe bring in more of the viral marketing stuff like the evil company in charge of Slusho or whatever... more backstory. They could do anything, though I think I'd prefer it to be a stand-alone movie. They seem to have a lot of expanded stuff going on outside of the movie...
Going to add spoilers to the title now, so be warned.
I thought this movie was awesome!!!!!!
We went and saw it last night, not a big crowd going to see it, but it was only 6.30.
My friend suffers from motion sickness, so if anyone who is going to watch the film suffers from that, be pre warned, because she had to leave and throw up.
But after watching it i felt like i had just watched one of those motion master movies, which are at Amusement parks, and the seats move according to what happens on the screen (but of course the cinema seats did not move) and your running from the bad guy, and theres a lot of twists and turns.
All in all a good movie, Monster was awesome, the way they showed things, like through media reports, and military intel was great,
you do not find out why the creature is doing this, or where it came from, it just a random attack, which i liked more than it being a Godzilla type movie, where you know it comes from Japan from radioactivity
The whole amateur camera technique was all right, i thought it would be not so great quality shots, but it was pretty clear to watch!
i was thinking they could do it from a documentary standpoint with some researchers, a couple journalists and some bodyguards as they try to document the monster. I haven't seen the movie yet but it would still give it that "live" feed or 1st person perspective.
Yeah, this was pretty kick-***. The beginning builds up just enough that you're starting to feel like you're watching 90210 and then BAM!! you're off and running and you just don't stop. I won't say much more than that except that the creature did not disappoint me and that I recommend sitting close to the screen to just really get into it.
I loved this movie!!! Nothing I can say can adequately describe it. I loved the complete and total lack of a soundtrack, it made the movie feel more real.
I personally loved the monster's design, I loved the mobs (the mini monsters), I loved the sense of fear, and anticipation. America finally has a legitimate giant monster movie.
Oh yeah, I got cold chills from the post credits audio.
I absolutely loved it. I wanted to see it again right after it was over, which is extremely rare. I loved the herky-jerky camera, and the monster was freakin' awesome. The actors were very good, and the atmosphere very real. I felt like I was there. Hud was hilarious, too.
All in all, more than lived up to my expectations. The best monster movie I've seen in ages.

Anyways I havn't seen this yet. But from the previews it kind of has a Blair Witch meets Godzilla feel to it... Anyone else get that feeling? From the reviews you people have been giving, I'm starting to really look foward to seeing this.
My sister always gets to see movies like this before me, because she has a car, and I have school. It pisses me off. She always sees them on opening day, and I have to wait until I'm not busy (I'm busy). She's about to see Cloverfield. She doesn't even like movies like this.
