Civil War series discussion (spoilers)

How would you rate Civil War?

Huge disappointment. Sue goes back to Reed (how predictable), Ben Grimm comes back home (what was the point?), and Cap all of the sudden and with no warning (or any real good reason, I thought) did a complete 180. Weak.

What was the point in all this? To get a super hero team in every state? Why is that such a huge development? To bring back Captain Marvel? I haven't read a single opinion that thought that was anything but ****. To reveal Spider-Man's identity? So what? We already know it's going to be retconned.

The disappointment comes not in the story itself, which I've always said was pretty good, but in the hype surrounding it. Any of the above mentioned events would have been better handled in the characters' respective books (except for Marvell coming back, of course, but that was **** anyway) and none have much to do with what this book was supposed to be about - a civil war between heroes.

What a waste.

from brief statements above as i've not read it yet

wait so after all this Iron Man wasn't made a villain?

I honestly thought that with the way he acted ect... He was going to become like a major bad guy. I know he has film coming out they could of just put out a iron man story set before civil war.

Captain America is in prison? that seems kinda dumb as they had built him up as cool renegade

So all this huge war to change marvel forever and its just more teams? but like in 90s wasn't there like 50 teams anyway so this basically did nothing? only a few changes most of which are not good ones.

bull**** last time I trust an event

Soooo is Punisher going to be Cap now? o.o That would be... odd... If so, that's the only thing from this entire issue that I did not see coming.

Cloak teleporting everyone was cool...

I really don't know what to say. o.o All this basically was was "'Kay, we're done with this year's event, now go read all our new revamped ongoing series!" It works, I guess.

I actually thought it was a great issue. The only problem I had was CAp started to cry right at the end of the fight. I know he's finally realized what he's doing but he could of acted a little less emotional. Overall it was a good issue and a good conclusion to a good event. Hey it could have been like HoM.
Issue: 4/5
Series: 4/5
P.S. Did anyone notice Johnny's face when Cap surrendered? It looked awful.

I thought this issue was good. You had stupid amounts of people NAmor and clor and the thunderbolts all fighting..and it was big enough to make cap go whoa...and i like the point he made about steve rogers/captain america...like he's not perfect and basically this got out of hand to the point where if he'd give up the principle he'd save lives...which kinda sucked but it's an ending...I guess he realises he won't be able to change peoples minds by winning a huge fight, and this isn't an series which can just end with iron man getting beat and having superhero's form a coup....it seemed pretty hard to resolve this i think millar did a good job...as always i still just wanna see what happens next, and i think that makes it good entertainment

I think this issue was awesome, and leaves us a lot of open doors.
Eventhough I know they are gonna make the worst stories out of it, spider-man is a vigilante now.Which is a feeling that I have missed.Probably the fresh blood all that spidey titles needed.
But Reed going "whoa!" for spider-man kicking the crap out of those dudes including Reed himself was a fanboy moment(but it looks cool).

I also believe they did a good job with Cap's reaction when all the cops and the other guys were holding him.Couldn't be written any better.

oh and has anyone noticed the cover for the initiative, there are some unexpected faces over there. a red symbiote character(not sure if it'll be carnage) and a war machine with a helmet that looks exactly like Iron Man's except of the colors, and looks like Vision was one of the 12 heroes that are "forgiven", I guess there are more unexpected stuff.

Oh that dose sound bad and basically from what I read it sounds like a glorified what if comic

Edit : replying to Dr.Strangefate

Worst ending ever?
So basically Pro-Reg won because Cap is too stupid to make a plan for the battle. I mean, it was his idea to battle in the MIDDLE OF NEW YORK, right?
Namor was put there only to for numbers as Captain Mar-Vell. People defending a man who killed another hero and was banding together with thiefs and murderers. Millar proved me right again, he is a very good writer but always ****s up the end.

Edit: The end of HoM was better, even thought I like Quicksilver.

I pretty much agree with you. House of M was a hundred times better than this crap.

I decided Civil War sucks. The art is amazing the the dialogue is stale and the story jumps around too much with no real purpose.

Maybe it would be better when I get my trade and it will read better as a whole. i dunno. Maybe I'm just pissed cause this had so much more potenial.

no it was his plan to battle on top of the baxter building. The battle was awesome. Cap was just too much like Ultimate CAp in this one. I thought it ended nicely because now you can see the damage and results in all the seperate titles. NNA was awesome. Spidey was hilarious.

Found this from over a month ago.
That's the part I didn't like. Nobody should ever put the hoods of a hoodie over their head, it looks stupid in most cases.

(Although being in the rain in a hoodie and not wearing the hood is also stupid...)

I do it a lot.

Same here.

What's the purpose of having a hood if you don't use it? That's pretty stupid.
Erm. I meant that wearing a hood when it's not raining looks dumb, as does not wearing one up (with one on ya, of course) when it is raining.

Unless you're all wearing hoods for no reason... then you have no sense of style. :p

(Yes, it was worth posting this.)

Erm. I still do it.

Maybe you like to have your ears frozen during the winter, but I don't.

Baxter Building is in the middle of New York, I doubt the battle could have been fought just in the baxter building, Cap should have known better. Him quitting all other heroes was the worst move he could have done. I mean, Black Panther and Namor must be really pissed because they just made war with the USA because of NOTHING.
Were was the Sentry?
And why Clor was a robot? Wasn't he a clone?

He was a clone bot.

I bet Sue was just delighted about the plan to fight in Baxter Building where her children were. If they're going to fight near them anyway, she should have taken them with her. Did Ben leave for France in the main Civil War book, or was it just mentioned in passing that he was planning on leaving soon? Because if so, his arrival must seem a little weird to the people only reading Civil War.

The only part about this book I liked was seeing the different headlines JJJ had tacked up. That was a nice touch.

I can't believe Captain America surrendered because the dumbass firefighters and EMTs tackled him. Why aren't they putting out ****ing fires or treating some of the people who were injured when a hundred or so people fell out of the sky? Also, if I were one of the anti-regs, I would beat the **** out of Captain America. "Oh, we've destroyed a block of New York City and pissed off some jackass firefighters, so we must surrender to the *******s who CLONED THOR, IMPRISONED MINORS BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T JOIN AN ARMY, and LIED TO PEOPLE SO THEY WOULD VIEW A NUN-KILLER AS BETTER THAN CAPTAIN AMERICA."

And I feel really bad for Clone Thor. The poor bastard was a slave. He was created, brainwashed, had his internal organs scooped out and replaced with technology made by the same guy who created Ultron, and then destroyed for obeying his programming. Or was he not a clone at all?

If that was a real, legitimate clone, then it had a soul. If so, then the pro side are ****ing monsters and I will never, ever consider them heroes again because they enslaved, brainwashed and destroyed an innocent entity.

I hated Civil War so much that I can't judge this book on its own merits. However, my gut says it sucks.
