Arrow show on CW (Spoilers)

No one is telling me why she is annoying. Is this a "Skyler White was a *****" thing?

I still don't see it.

I can't watch this yet so you guys enjoy

From DC's official Twitter:

"One of the Season Three episodes will focus in Felicity's backstory. Episode Title? "Oracle.""

I don't know why but watching this show makes me want a Windows tablet. It's the damnedest thing.

Cool, not surprising but it's nice to have confirmation. Will make for an interesting dynamic between Oliver and Malcolm Merlyn. Not to mention an interesting choice for Sara to have to make later in the season.

wyo, how far are you into the show? Are you up to Season 2 yet? Are you liking it more the second time (in terms of Season 1)?

My girlfriend and I are on episode 17 of season one. I'm enjoying it more than I did the first time but I'm more or less laughing at the stupider stuff (Barrowman was SO not in that costume EVER and Laurel and Tommy sleeping together is such a non-issue it's not even funny) rather than getting ticked off like I did before. I'm able to appreciate the, admittedly well done, action scenes and, while it still is WAY too serious and needs WAY more witty one-liners and jokes from Ollie, I've come to accept it as the "dark" DC show (Constantine was surprisingly light hearted and The Flash and iZombie both look bright and goofy). It's not great (I'd put it in the same quality as Smallville), but I'm enjoying it. Keep waiting for him to call himself Green Arrow though.

In that regard it's an origin story. Hence Ollie is brooding and often overly serious since he shoulders the burden alone in the beginning. As the series progresses and he has more experience and other allies (Felicity, Diggle, Roy, Canary) and heroes crop up (like Flash), he'll relax a bit and become more like the character from the comics. I also think if the rumors of him and Felicity starting a relationship in Season 3 are true, she may have a positive effect on him that causes him to lighten up and develop more of a sense of humor.

I could honestly do without the "Green Arrow" name. It's pretty ridiculous. Even the "Arrow" moniker is weird. Yeah, he shoots arrows. But calling him Arrow is akin to calling Punished "Bullet".

I know comic purists will be completely against that opinion, but I don't care. We may as well call Superman "Guy in Blue and Red Tights Who Flies and Punches". The names given to some super hero characters that worked back in the 1940s to 1970s are often ludicrous today. Just as many if their costumes were originally. And while the costumes tend to change and alter with the times, the names sometimes don't (or do unnecessarily).

If he was dressed as current Smallville Green Arrow I'd be fine without the jokes and names since that's pretty much body armor, but he's going around dressed as Robin Hood. He's gotta have some sense of humor buried in there. Hopefully Felicity, who is getting less annoying as it progresses and becomes useful, will bring that out like you said. It just feels wrong calling him "The Hood". It bugged me when Superman was "The Blurr" in Smallville too. Also I really want to read a Bullet miniseries now. Have everything a normal Ennis Punisher book would have but have him called Bullet.

The Blurr was an astoundingly stupid name. I can't believe they went with that.

I don't mind "The Hood" moniker since he literally wears a green hood. And while Superman was a blur when he saved people in Smallville, The Hood is far less corny sounding. I also like that it's the media and public who coined the term "the Hood" and "the Arrow" for Oliver instead of him calling himself that...because that would've been narcissistic and moronic.

Who knows, depending on where Barrowman's character goes in season two (him living got spoiled for me) maybe that Green Arrow line will become something. I know he's a bad guy but he could be redeemed.

I don't really, but if it means having Barrowman stretch his out his acting legs and giving a really good final performance AND being able to get the character called by his actual name then I will gladly watch it.

I'm really confused on why they can't use characters if this is a standalone universe.

It is kind of stupid. I'm assuming DC/WB don't want to "confuse" the audience, though that's just a stupid reason and insulting to the audience. Their reasoning has something to do with "brand dilution". Guess that's why there's the Gotham show but that it doesn't feature Batman.

I'm also wondering how that logic explains a Flash TV show when the character will likely end up appearing in the JL movie.

I don't know. The logic of Hollywood execs escapes me more often than not.
