All Star Batman and Robin The Boy Wonder series discussion (spoilers)

Okay, I just reread the first issue. Not so bad. Until the end, where Batman "drafts" Dick.

Now, onto 2 where the **** really hits the fan.

Don't forget, Dick is thirteen years of age.

That was issue 2 where she keeps repeating his age (12, by the way). I just read it.

Not. . .uh, not good. Not good at all.

I don't know that Vicki Vale got character raped though. I honestly don't think I've ever read a comic with Vicki Vale in it before. I really only know her from the movie.

Anyway, I don't think I'll read issue 3. Maybe never again. Black Canary? WTF?

I saw scans of her Golden or Silver Age debut. She refuses a date with Bruce Wayne because she has to work. She appears to beat out Lois Lane in the Kickass Woman Reporter category.

I have no idea what you're talking about. 108 what?

Every 108 minutes, the code must be entered and the button must be pushed or otherwise Gotham City will suffer another incident.

At the hands of Frank Miller and All Star Batman.

#5 was really bad. As far as I can tell, Frank Miller is just ripping the piss out of mainstream superhero comics. All the superheroes are detestable and shallow, and also clinically insane, and spend all their time hating each other and discussing how to beat each other up.

So yeah, it's pretty much everything Marvel and DC are doing at the moment, along with the continuous repetative dialogue that people think is 'realistic'.

I hate that dialogue. I really do. Bendis and his garbage. And he's not alone.

But issue 5 was the best of the series so far, and the first one I kind of like despite its ridiculous insanity.

I'm actually enjoying this series more than Dini's Detective comics and Morrison's Batman. No, it's not better, but it's ****ing fun to read. Crazy Batman always manages to make me laugh.

It makes me cry like a baby. At least you guys just like it because it's silly. There are people who genuinely think Batman should make his kids eat rats.

Were I the Goddamn Batman, I would make everyone eat rats. I'd kidnap homeless people and make them eat rats. I'd force feed rats to criminals. I'd pull out my Kryptonite ring, and then make Superman eat rats. Everyone would be eating rats, except me, the Goddamn Batman, because I'm rich, and rich people are better than you.

Anyone know where the phrase "the goddamn Batman" came from originally?

It's inheriently understood that he is the goddamn Batman.....much like it's understood that Watchmen is probably the greatest comic any of us will ever read.....but I've always wondered where the phrase came from?

If you want to know how angry that panel makes me, do a search on YouTube for 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde NES'.

...I can't believe how bad that panel is.

i can't dislike this series simply because i can't take it completely seriously.

i'm not sure that frank miller can take it completely seriously.

also, why plastic man's comment on wonder woman's shot at superman is misplaced (issue 5). if anyone was emasculated during that meeting it was GL. please use your most powerful weapon in the universe to hang up my coat?

and he just rolls over. way to go green lantern.

oh well. i love being the ******* batman.
