Lost *spoilers*

 Survivor... I remember on one of the seaon's someone was burnt and had to be evacuated... On the preview for the episode that that happened, they showed an alligator jump into the water, so you were led to believe he was attacked by an alligator. Editting.

Kelvin was a volunteer, waiting for his replacement... Was he counting on Desmond specifically, or someone else? How'd THAT work, anyway?

Yes, "Him", is the leader of the Others. We know that Ben is not because Juliet says she does not take orders from him, although it appears so to Jack. I'm curious to see how this guy fits in to the equation after all that we've seen of the Others... My guess is that he's in the outside world.

And "Him" is unknown. Ben referred to a "Him" while he was a prisoner. He is believed to be the leader of the Others, or DHARMA itself.

That's not the way I read it. I thought Juliette said that just because she doesn't like Ben. You can trace that back to the book club meeting. I see it as him having taken control at some point and most of the Others went along with it, but some resent him a little. I could be wrong, but I don't see anything she's said to indicate there's any higher power. It's no different than the ridiculous infantile rants of some Democrats who say, "Bush isn't MY President" when he most obviously is whether you like him or not.

As for what Ben said when captured, I don't remember that at all, but do you REALLY think it indicates someone else? I mean if I were captured by hostile forces, I'd hardly confess to being the man in charge. It seems more likely that he was actually referring to himself, but he obviously wouldn't want the castaways to know that. "He said I had to come here and spy on you" as opposed to "I decided to come here and spy on you".

There are things about Ben Limus that I would love to get into... Sure, he was captured to spy on the Losties - I get that. But, why? If he needed Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, why didn't he just have them taken when Tom met with them at the Spot? I don't get that part... That's a pretty large hole, too, if you ask me. Also, there is reasonable doubt that Ben is or is not in charge of the Others... I want to get to the bottom of that soon.

I know that the actor was hired to play the role of "Henry Gale" and that they ended up liking him so much that they kept him on, so MAYBE that accounts for the oddness of events. I don't understand why he'd personally go spying on the Losties either... except that he may be so arrogant he's thinking "Ethan was an idiot. I'll have to do this myself." As for why they weren't taken at the Spot... hmmm. He needs Jack's medical expertise. He needs Sawyer's con artist expertise, probably to put him back into the Losties as a spy. He needs Kate to control Sawyer. Maybe when they were at the Spot, he didn't know about Kate and Sawyer so he didn't see an opportunity there? Maybe he didn't have the background data on any of the Losties back then? Maybe he didn't know about the tumor back then? <shrug>

Yeah, it's just a guessing game and it's something that the writer's could just as easily put to the side. :-/ We'll see, though, once we get a Ben flashback, things should make a little more sense.

Holy **** what the hell was that black thing!?

And Locke is Next? Noooo!

The plot thickens with the others and I want to know what the **** is going on, this so irritates me because there are never any answers, soo frustrating!!!

You didn't see it last season?

The death isn't what I expected. I was waiting for something more tragic like, not to see Eko get killed by the black smoke. Didn't expect it to be Eko either, but then again, I didn't have anyone in mind, really.

As I said before, it seems senseless to rescue Eko from the polar bear just to kill him in the next episode... but there ya go. Obviously the Monster has been behind all of the illusions (most of us have known that for some time), but it's motives remain a mystery. We know it had an interest in Eko from before, but I don't know why it chose to kill him now. I agree with Goodwill that Eko was one of the best characters though. The show'll miss him.

Patch isn't Kelvin... or anyone else I recognize. Heck, the way that scene was done, he could easily just be one of the Others poking around.

The new characters continue to bore. They're just wandering exposition for new viewers. Blech. It's not as if we can't accept new castaways. The tailies became good characters after we got to know them. I just don't see that happening with the two newbies.

I think the 'plan' that Ben revealed to Jack may well have been a load of BS because he's jealous that Juliette and Jack are getting along. Her secret plan to kill Ben just confirms for me that there isn't a higher power and that she just plain doesn't like him.

And what's this nonsense about a season finale next week? It's typical for a show to go into re-runs during the holiday season and come back next year to finish up by May. Calling it a season finale next week is just a cheap marketting gimmick.

All of ABC's comercials suck.

And I too hate the new characters, but I don't blame the writers for that, its hard to just throw in more castaways like they matter

Ok, ok... I've collected myself.

Discussion.

First, the monster. It obviously can take all kinds of different shapes... Locke saw a shining white light while Eko saw the black cloud from the beginning (More black/white contrast). Also, all of the illusions that have been going on on the island are in part by the monster... But the "why" still lingers... And in what ways is it a security system?

Secondly, Locke. He's exercising a new kind of leadership... That allows for smooth introductions to new characters. He is definitely back to what I loved about his character in the beginning. Perhaps it was necessary for Locke to come and go as he did... To shape Locke into a man of faith again.

The new characters are being introduced at a good speed. I feel like the fact that they have recognized themselves as people who were once on the outs is good... And now that Locke is a more democratic leader, they can rightfully and appropriately make more of an impression... The only thing I have a problem with is Nikki appearing to be smarter than Sayid. SAYID. We're talking about a guy who fixed a computer using coconuts and mangos after it was SHOT. Damn... Cheap way of making one of the new characters noticed.

The Others are up to no good. I think Juliet is ****ing with Jack with that movie... She's on Ben's side, despite the tension... This is all part of Ben's game, actually... Or a revised version, anyway.

I remember hearing that before. Why do we think it's a security system?

Wow, I can't believe they killed Eko! He was one of the best characters.

The story with Jack, Sawyer, and Kate is building up to be awesome. Jack is totalling going to kill Ben/Henry.

My thoughts.

Boone tells Locke he needs to save Eko, so he does, from the Polar Bear.

Eko, saved, is visited by the security system masking as his brother.

I have a feeling the island wanted Eko away from the polar bear, so it could kill him itself.

Which means the island....is......I have no idea, I'm grasping at straws. I'm just trying to figure out why it wanted to save Eko, then go kill him itself. Or maybe, the island isn't working with the security system at all, and it wanted Eko there to serve as a buffer, so the security system wouldn't kill Locke first, but go after Eko.

Heh, either or I guess.

Still, the reason why Eko was building a church is because he owed his brother one.

I like that.

I thought the reason why he had been saved by Locke was because he was going to be given an opportunity to be forgiven and redeemed... However, he did not want to confess... So... He dies.
