Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline

That's something I've been meaning to go back and do, but just so busy with the various other timelines I'm doing or updating the existing ones I can't seem to find the time.

If anyone is up for collating all the timeline info from here in the thread (that's where most is contained, actually probably ALL of it), please do, and I'll credit you on the timeline summary. I'll add it to a new summary page after the initial timeline post.

I was gonna start working on that and then my laptop charger bit the dust so ive been without my computer. Currently heading out of town to escape the hurricane so I may have time to just sit on my phone and try to at least start up a nice template to keep things organized and then start adding info at a later point, or share the template with someone else to add the info.

I'm praying for your safety!

Thanks man. I appreciate the sentiment. I'm sure I'll be fine, but I just didn't want to chance it. When Hermine came through a few weeks ago all we really got was wind but it was enough to knock branches down at my apartment complex. I didn't want to stick around for something worse. I have a lot of friends who aren't leaving town though, and I'm hoping they all remain safe.

Hey!
Stay safe

Thanks everybody for the well wishes, the hurricane should be hitting my area tonight, and hopefully I'll be able to return home tomorrow or Sunday at the latest.

That being said, I did start on the google docs note template, I still need to add some episode titles, and I kept some shorts on there that I don't remember if we deemed non-canon or not. If anyone wants to look at what the general idea is for organization, here's the link:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/115a24LE6Y9wLxsOsBfcydVoWQRCogMP9JVIeK7Fv7_8

As I stated before, I'm working from mobile so it's pretty bare bones as of right now, but the idea is to have everything have different billeted categories for note including:

Hard dates given:
References made to time passing:
References made to other canon material:
Real world events/pop culture references:
Location (Including Time Zone/Travel time)
Retcons made in later material:
Production team statements:
Other:

I feel like that covers most categories we've brought up throughout the thread for placement evidence, but if there's anything specific I didn't think of, feel free to mention it. Like I said, right now it's just a template, and I probably won't be able to fill it all in by myself, but once I (or anyone who's willing to) can put time into working on it, it should make things so much easier moving forward for us to place future projects.

Glad you and everyone else stayed safe, iammattie. The hurricane was pretty tame for me now that I live inland. Used to live on Intracoastal and that was always a pain due to massive waves crashing over sea wall bringing massive amounts of mud.

I think that approach you're using for the notations/references is great. When you're done I'll collect them and post a FAQ/Guide explaining reasons for various placements into the second post/existing guide.

Great work, man. I, for one, really appreciate it. I'll probably break up each film's info into a section covering that film, and same for entire seasons of the TV series, with specific references for each episode noted as well (when they're given).

I need to go back and do a rewatch of all the AoS episodes to follow time passed between/during episodes more specifically... it's much easier doing so watching it all in one go as opposed to week by week as I've done for it to keep up to date with each new release... and Daredevil Season 1 to see if I can reposition it to make sense of Fisk's comment in Season 2 that the art gallery where Matt met him and Vanessa was only several months ago. I have to see if doing so makes sense given the weather pattern changes and any other info provided within the first season.

Anyway, just let me know when it's done and I'll get it all posted, and add new notations for newer releases when available.

Going through editing in Luke Cage and I've spotted a few little errors. You've got the following:

Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:06:30 - 0:06:35 ) (Video Only)
Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:06:43 - 0:06:48 ) (Video Only)
Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:06:57 - 0:07:00 ) (Video Only)
Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:07:03 - 0:07:19 )
Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:07:37 - 0:08:23 )
Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:09:37 - 0:09:49 )
Luke Cage 1x08: "Blowin' Up the Spot" (0:09:53 - 0:46:38 )

However at 7:03 Misty walks into the club and exclaims "Oh my god" indicating that she hasn't seen the body already. She goes upstairs at 10:01 to see Mariah and interview Candace. It would be after this at about 12:24 that I believe the visual parts take place.

Also in 1x10 there is the second flashback between 35:30 and 36:14. Whether that can be moved or not is up for debate I guess due to adult Luke being there as well.

Finally you've got 1x11 ending at 0:40:26 when I'm sure it is meant to be 0:49:26.

Some new Doctor Strange information from the 15-minute IMAX screening (WARNING: SPOILERS): https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/56v5o4/doctor_strange_imax_preview_reaction/

Not much information is given, but apparently, a Marine with a back injury from an exosuit is mentioned as a patient for Dr. Strange. Some people thought he might be referring to Rhodes' injury from Civil War (although it's confirmed that he isn't here: https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelstudios/comments/56v5o4/doctor_strange_imax_preview_reaction/d8murlk), while other users speculate he might be referring to one of Justin Hammer's test pilots for one of his experiments.

Just some food for thought, but I guess we'll wait until the movie comes out so we can have more information to work with.

Good call, fixed that.

Yeah I left that as a memory happening in present day since the adult Luke is visible in the shot. Same thing happened in Jessica Jones, a flashback to her family going on vacation. Any shots featuring the flashbacks are treated as such, but if the present day version of character is present in shot it has to be treated as a memory or dream (whatever the situation is).

Finally you've got 1x11 ending at 0:40:26 when I'm sure it is meant to be 0:49:26.

Thanks, yeah must've hit the 0 instead of the 9 when editing.

The overwhelmingly positive fan responses have me really hyped for this film now. I was interested before, but now... Doctor Strange has my attention.

Tonight's episode of AoS featured a flashback that was vaguely worded as occurring "then" (no specific dates or years ago). However, it's said on the MCU wikia that the "ghosts" were held in the containment cubes for several years, so it must be at least 3-4 years before, possibly longer if we account for the time it took for them to discover book, study it, and apply what they'd learned from it in the failed experiment.

So, to be safe, I'm placing those flashbacks 5 years previous, in 2011.
