Wizard announces Jeph Loeb and Joe Madureira on Ultimates 3

You're asking an opinion question. You may think he's crap, but not others. The others will think he's great, which is the reason they went with the person/people in the first place.

It's really an unfair question to ask. Of course people will say they want someone to strengthen the brand. But again, though you may not belive certain people will do that, others will.
Ok, he's not someone I would consider for the job.
I would want someone less mainstream, more edgy, someone that would inject a little fire into the belly of the Ultimate line.

Millar's gone, and so has Vaughan, Ellis only has a few more issues left.
There needs to be a very strong creative talent involved in the Ultimate line to drive it. Loeb, is not it.

Ok, Millar is doing UFF, but so far, unimpressed. There needs to be a writer that can make a title his own.

Found this at Millarworld

Just found this reply to Ultimates v3 on At comicon.com/pulse. Seriously is this the kind of comparison we want to make here?

Mad's style is traditionally more along the lines of "cartoon-ish" than Hitch's--a complete stylistic departure. That's the first red flag. Secondly, Mad is infamous for being late, and worse, for not finishing projects. But, no matter how much he bungles and farts his way through drawing "comics," his fans keep eating it up, like battered wives who say "He didn't really mean it...he's a good man, he just had a bad day..."

All this is moot, by the way, because with New Avengers and Young Avengers so damn good lately, WHO NEEDS THE ULTIMATES vol. 3?

I agree with Guij...

Loeb tends to work best with the mythos of a character. Like, were he to do a 616 Captain America book, or something with any of the big names.

I don't like his stuff that deals with the present, it all feels a little hacky... All I know is that i'm not likely to stay with Supergirl long unless it shapes up Big Time.

I can't see him adding anything to the Ultimates, but I can hope that he'll do the best he can to make a good series. They'll throw him off the book if it doesn't sell.

That's the problem though, It seems Loeb and MAD have a lot of fanboys between them that will buy anything because of the name. Apparently regards of how well it's produced.

I have faith in Marvel that they won't keep him on for too long if he's not delivering a good story. And Loeb fanboys are enough to keep a book on the rack, not enough too keep it in #1 if its not good.

Marvel wants to keep its top selling book top selling. They won't screw around.

Then they must know something we don't, coz screwing around is exactly what this appointment looks like.

Argh.

I say all us naysayers agree to be quiet until we can show everyone Mad's art in Wizard tomorrow. After THAT, then we'll have our arguement.

And I swear to God, I'll staple wings to Mad's head if he puts them on ANYONE other than Wasp or Falcon (And Falcon's wings better be metal, if he's in it).

Good grief, that... that... that....
Well, it ain't Hitch, but then again, who is?
I get that they wanted to get a different "style", but come on, this Joe guy's (can't spell last name) art is borderline anime. I've never read anything by Jeph Loeb, but he's gonna have to be about 400x better than Millar if he wants me to overlook the fact that Ultimates is going to be anime.
I'm with Guijllons- I'm not looking forward to the new artwork.
However, as I've never actually seen any of his comics, I will reserve my total hatred until I have the comic in my hands.

Loeb has some great comics out there. . .but they aren't the political play that is Ultimates. The Long halloween, Dark Victory, Hush and Superman/batman are some well written comics. And let's not forget about the sensational Superman for All Seasons. But, he's a character-driven writer. He'll build the characters up rather than the plot. I think he might do well writing U3 for awhile.

I haven't read much of Loeb's work, but what I have read was not bad. "But I do love Maduriea's art!"

I had a gamut of emotional reactions to this. Luckily, I was able to capture them on my emoticam.

Wow, some interesting news to say the least. I'm a fan of both the creators but I don't know if I'll like them on Ultimates 3. Guess I 'll have to wait.
